Driveshaft removale How do I go about removing the driveshaft on my 1994 GMC Suburban 2wd.

THERE ARE 4 11MM BOLTS AT THE REAR END OF THE DRIVE SHAFT REMOVE THOSE AND SLIDE DRIVE SHAFT OUT

How do you replace rear oil seal in 1994 Isuzu Standard tranmission


Chockblock front wheels to prevent truck rolling, and jack vehicle up and place a jackstand under frame to prevent vehicle falling. Remove driveshaft, seal is now visible to be pried out for new one to be lightly tapped into place with a rubber mallet or hammer, along with a wooden block, taking care to keep new seal straight while replacing. replace driveshaft and check fluid level, lower vehicle and remove chockblocks.

Look under there and see, but I think they (the hub locks) are engaged by vacuum motors.

My 1997 suburban wont drive but the rear wheels still turn


drive shaft might of snapped or your u joints on the shaft

Carrier baring


1) Flat level surface, chock the front tires.

2) Jack the rear up just until the tires clear.
USE jack stands. (DO NOT EVER just depend on a jack)

3) Remove the rear bolts holding the rear U-joint in.
Carefully use a tool to pry one of the U-joint cups, until the U-joint comes loose. DO NOT drop the cups off. Keep one hand wrapped around the cups as you pry the U-joint loose.

When U-joint is removed, suggest use black plastic electrical tape, and tape across the two cups, so they do not drop off.

[GOOD time to see if they are dry, and the U-joint is in good condition. DO NOT loose needle bearings ]

4) Remove the bolts that hold the Carrier Bearing Support to frame.
(Put the nuts back on a few threads of the bolts, after putting them back through the holes, in the Carrier Bearing Support strap. This way you won\'t lose them)

Lay the Support strap, and rubber aside.

5) Slide the driveshaft out of the back of the tranny. (Transmission)
It would be a real good idea to go to an auto parts store first, and rent a plug tool for the back of the tranny, once you remove the driveshaft. Keeps the tranny fluid from leaking out. Manual or automatic. (It is plastic, and a cheap rental)

The rear half-driveshaft slips out of the front one.
BEFORE removing make a mark on the front half-driveshaft, and a matching mark on the rear half-driveshaft. The driveshaft is a Balanced unit. Should be put back together the same way, it was taken apart.

Take the driveshaft with the carrier bearing on it to a shop, so they can press the old one off, and the new one on.

Reverse your steps.

(Owner of 1994 GMC Sonoma 2-wheel drive, extended cab. Civilian mechanic on Army base. Work on ALL wheeled vehicles, and track up to, but not including, Abrams M1A2 tank )

Is a 2004 ford f-150 2wd carrier bearing.. ( mid-mount bearing ) on driveshaft replaceable, or do i have to replace entire driveshaft?


it is replaceable
normally it comes complete in the rubber mount
you will have to undo the drive shaft flange at the bearing
remove the drive shaft and take it to an accredited drive shaft repair shop or take the vehicle to an accredited drive line specialist shop
the repair will require that you place the flange back on the shaft after the bearing replacement in exactly the right position or you will get harmonic vibration after the job so talk with the experts first if you want to diy

1999 GMC Suburban 2500: There is a grinding sound and a seize in the front tires when I make a sharp turn left or right at slow speed...Exp. pulling into a parking spot. What could it be?


Sounds like the truck is in 4 wheel drive, try turning the front driveshaft, it should turn freely if it is in 2wd otherwise you may have transfercase problem or your front diff is locked in

GMC and Chevy called the problem "driveline Wrap-up"


Check the U-joints for play. There should be no play when you twist the driveshaft at each joint. Also there should be no play when you try to side the joint up and down or side to side.
Check the slip joint at the steady bearing as well. there should be no play there when you twist the driveshaft.
There is a chance it could be in the rear end. The pin that holds the spider gears in place sometimes has problems with the locking bolt backing out. You'll have to remove the cover to check that.

Renault clio problem


First check to see if the driveshafts are turning, they are the things that stick out either side of the gearbox. start engine put car in gear. and let the clutch up, if you have no drive, open the bonnet and see if the gearbox end of the driveshaft or the wheel end of the driveshaft is moving. if one or the other is (remember to look both sides of the gearbox 2 driveshafts) you have a driveshaft or hub fault. If all is well and nothing is loose or moving the problem is either clutch or internal to the gearbox. this will require removale of the gearbox. approx 5 hours labour remove and refit plus parts required on inspection.
