Steering wheel will fine untill the power steering oil is full, so till the time you are not getting it fixed , keep a check on power steering oil contain. Once the oil container gets low you will find it hard to steer the wheel.
first check fluid levels --power steering--oil--transmission --if power steering low or out pump will sequel look for blown hose or seal----if oil is low or empty than look under around oil filter [hole damaged or blown gasket ] spraying on belt causing sequel if not filter than trace oil leak possible oil pan damaged or gasket crack or head or valve gasket-----if trans low or empty look at pan- gasket ,or damaged check trans cooling lines to radiator-----these are your leak areas under hood your oil pump is internal in oil pan and you usually dont hear it
Go to autozone or similar and get a leak detection kit. Make sure you get the one for oil type. The kit contains a uv dye that u add to the power steering fluid, a flashlight that detects the dye, a special pair of glasses that allows you to see the dye. Refill power steering fluid add dye when fluid leaks out put on glasses and shine flashlight on engine starting at power steering tank and work way down all lines and fittings until you see the glow from dye. The foam is caused by air in the system
Hi
Follow the pipes by hand from the power steering pump to the steering rack, you should get an oil deposit on your hand where the leak is. hope this works. check the pump it self for any leaks.it could also be the seals of the steering rack and into the steering bellows and it won`t show you the leak at least until now.

I find it hard to believe that one of the tubes of steering oil could be blocked unless hit, so I would go for the pump. Poor oil pressure, ends up to low oil flow. However check your tubes, from and to the pump, and then, go for the pump. Sorry I can't tell you more.
If it were me I would check it atleast every three months or every time i took it on a long trip. Are you having problems with it going low or trans slipping?
i suggest to check the fluid at least once every 2 weeks and keep a bottle of power steering fluid in the cars also just check every once in a while and then get the lines replaces hope that helps
likely either the steering rack&pinion assembly is leaking or the hoses to it are leaking, have it put on a lift to see which steering componet the fluid is leaking from.
