2003 Ford Expedition XLT climate controls not working

After installing a radio, the climate controls (manual) do not work. I can hear the vacuum doors change when I switch between floor and upper outlets, no blower on any of the 4 settings and A/C light doesn't turn on when pressed. Rear defrost does work. Checked fuses 5, 13 and 116 plus relay 6 and they are all good - double checked the connections to the panel in the dash too. Rear system doesn't work either at this point. Its almost like the system isn't getting power except for the rear defroster. Both were working fine before we swapped the radio. Any ideas on what to check at this point?

Check the wiring harness around the radio inside the dashboard. Perhaps you cut or pinched a control wire (the pinched wire may be shorted to ground). Also make sure any connectors to the climate controls are properly seated - they may have been pulled loose.

SOURCE: Rear window defroster

you need to make sure the wires are on the glass on each side and there is no broken wires in the glass there is a repair kit at a auto store to fix if you have a volt meter test it and that way you can find the problem look for breaks in the wire in the glass and do not for get the wires on each side of the glass.

does the fan in the cab work?? if it does SOUNDS LIKE YOU MAY HAVE AIR BLOCK, OR BLOCKED HEATER MATRIX, FIRST CHECK THE HEIGHT OF THE HEATER MATRIX IN THE CAB , IF ITS HIGHER THAN THE FILLER/EXPANSION TANK. THEN COULD BE AN AIR LOCK, LOOK FOR THE HIGHEST PIPE AND SEE IF THERE IS A BLEED VALVE, IF NOT TAKE BOTH PIPES OFF THE MATRIX FEEDS (TWO PIPES GOING FROM ENGINE BAY TO INSIDE OF CAR, AND FLUSH OUT WITH HOSE TO SEE IF IT IS BLOCKED, AND RECONNECT LOWEST PIPE FIRST AND FILL SYSTYM TILL WATER APPEAR FROM TOP AND RECONNECT RUN MOTOR, AND KEEP TOPIN UP, YOU CAN BuY A COOLENT FLUSH SOLUTION TO CLEAN THE SYSTYM OUT

I replaced the heat blend actuator because I was not getting any heat. Now, after replacing, all I get is hot air and no cold. The A/C was working fine just before replacing.

Do you have Manual Climate Control System or Dual Automatic Temperature Control System ?
The temperature control switch:
  • is a potentiometer that outputs a variable voltage to the temperature blend door actuator to set the position of the temperature blend door.
  • initiates closing of the heater control valve. When set to full COOL, a lever on the temperature blend door pivot shaft depresses the pintle of the heater control valve vacuum switch. The heater control valve vacuum switch then applies vacuum to the heater control valve, closing off engine coolant flow to the heater core.
  • is serviced only with the climate control assembly.
You may have disturbed something when changing the actuator , the vacuum switch o vacuum hose .

My 2003 Ford Expedition a/c blows out the defrost vents and will not blow out the dash vents

The vacuum motor is not operating right due to a loose vacuum tube, ore electrical connection or the logic is bad in the climate control electronics. The vacuum motor controls the door angle which controls whether the a/c blows out of the front vents or the defrost vents.
