Idle air control valve
Check idle air control valve on throttle body. Mine had similer problems. A quick fix to get you going should be just unplug and remove spray w/ cleaner to get carbon off spring and cone shaft, reinstall. remember, this is just temporary. If cleaning helped, buy a new one soon. JMO

could be a couple of things because when u put a car in gear the idle goes down so check see if it dies while ur sligthly on the gas to keep it running but be carefull.if the car dies anyway then u could have a jammed or locked up torque converter and if so the only way to know for sure is to unbolt the flywheel from the converter and giving it a try
Remove all of the battery cables and clean them, replace both of the bolts. These cars will give trouble like this with dirty connections that you cannot see until you inspect and clean all three. A cam sensor is one of two things that tell the computer where #1 fireing is for starting car. They do not usually go bad, the magnet inside the engine will fall apart though and the engine light will stay on.
I had similar problem with my 1994 Buick LeSabe. after clening EGR valve and idle valve the problem almost disappeared. use trottle body cleaning liquid. be carefull with a gasket otherwise you will need to buy a new one. New EGR cost around $120
Hello;
It sounds as if you have a vacuum leak. It could be at the hose for the power brakes, pcv valve or the EGR Valve hose leaking. You may also have a bad fuel pressure regulator. Let me know if I can be of further assistance.
Thanks;
