Check to make sure you have hooked up the fans properly. if you can ... test the fans by giving them 12 volts directly from the battery. also check that the fuse was not blown in the fan circuit. if it has and you replace it and it blows again ... you will need to track down the short circuit in order to fix the problem.

There's trapped air in the cooling system.
  • You need to remove the bleeder screw on top of the radiator when adding water to the expansion tank.
  • With the engine running, pour water into the expansion tank till you see air go out through the bleeder screw's hole.
  • Just keep adding water until no more air bubbles come out then just put the screw back in place.
  • Then fill the expansion tank to it's normal level/line.

Hi Honda crv (98) R overheating.

SOUNDS LIKE YOUR THERMOSTAT IS STICKING,REPLACE THERMOSTAT FIRST OVERHEATING WILL DAMAGE ENGINE.IF THAT DOSEN'T WORK HAVE WATER PUMP CHECKED.FANS WON'T TURN ON IF HEAT FROM ENGINE IS NOT FLOWING INTO RAD BECAUSE THEROMOSTAT STUCK CLOSED,OR WATER PUMP FAILING

My car keeps overhating because my fans wont come on. i changed the radiator temp control switch and the thermostat

Warning! I don't know how to fix this problem but I do know it's very dangerous to work on these fans. THEY CAN COME ON UNEXPECTEDLY WHILE WORKING ON THEM AND INJURE YOU. These fans can run even when the key is off. Take it to a shop that knows how to work on them.

2000 Plymouth Voyager Overheating

The radiator cooling fan relay has most likely failed. It is underneath the air cleaner on the frame rail just behind the radiator. NO cooling fan = overheating. This is the first thing i would look at. Best way to tell is when the van gets hot see if the cooling fan is on. You will hear it running if it is coming on. It will set a code for the cooling fan relay also.

Overheating 1989 nissan maxima also radator fan won't come on

Hi,must of the time when fans stop working is because a fuse or a fan relay is burned ,it is also posible that the fan motor also burn out,there is a temperature switch at the cilinder head that can go bad and the fan will not go on. this should do it .....

Overheating

Hi,

Most normal causes for overheating would be:
  • clogged radiator,
  • insufficient coolant level (radiator and reservoir);
  • too soft radiator hoses;
  • defective/leaky water pump (impeller);
  • water pump belt/tensioner;
  • thermostat (mechanical);
  • thermal switch;
  • radiator fan, fan clutch;
  • fan relay;
  • fan fuse.
In some instances, the fan only works in conjunction with the A/C and/or heater and therefore would only work if either of those two are enabled.

Should your particular vehicle be using a radiator fan with clutch, that could also cause the fan blades not to spin even if the fan motor is turning.

Pls check the above mentioned components.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards. Thank you for using FixYa.

1. start the engine and leave the radiator cap open.
2. put a cardboard cover or a rug in the front of you radiator.
3. let it runs 20 minutes or more, see if it is overheated and see the water or coolant in the radiator circulated or not. If not, as soon as you have already changed water pump. thermostate and check the hoses, no leak, I think your radiator was blocked.

Did you put stop leak before?

hi check your thermostat, waterpump, radiator and cap, hoses, fan if you can see a visible leak then i can talk you through a solution if its not leaking try flushing radiator, change the cap, make sure your fan is working, make sure your water pump is working u can test by removing the radiator cap with the engine running you should be able to see the coolant flowing not just sitting still if you need more assistance let me know
