You would first start with the A/C switch...sometimes switches get excessive humidity or moisture and this can cause unwanted oxidation, thereby causing unusual problems.

SO see if u can take apart the A/C switch first. Then check for proper operation. SOmetimes a switch can be taken apart, the metal contacts cleaned and then re lubricated, then re installed.

If you do take it apart, it should have shiny metal contacts inside, not green or other colorings.

Recheck your timing marks. Sounds like valve timing is off. Check compression it needs a minimum 90 lbs to run. Bet you money the timing belt was put on out of phase.

I have a 2004 Kia Optima with a 2.4 liter engine. Should it use 4.34 quarts in a 3000 mile oil change cycle? We were told this is within specs for this car. It has 73000 miles on it.

its used how much ?? thats 8 pints of oil which is about 5 litres in 3000 miles whats it doing leaving a blue haze behind it ,i think this engine needs looking at as this amount of oil consumption will kill the catalytic converter

Start with the simple and replace the fuel filter. The fuel filter should be replaced every 15,000 miles or once a year to ensure the fuel system is running 100%. Auto Zone will have the fuel filter and can give you the step by step instructions to getting the job done with common tools. If it's the fuel pump failure, you have not gotten the car restarted. Good luck and keep me posted, be glad to know you got your car running 100% again soon and please rate.

cold start sensor is faulty. basically when you start a car from cold, the sensor mixes the air and fuel to allow more fuel to air ratio to start the car. as the engine warms the air fuel mixture weakens to give a economical fuel consumption.hence your car starts warm.
