A/c compressor shot?

Regarding my 2002 Mazda protege 5, a/c blowing warm air but I just noticed that when I press the ac button, or select defog mode, nothing happens, no sound of the pump. I'm guessin the compressor's shot. I am also thinking it'll be costly to repair. SOS!!!

wut belt? nothing flew off. I did check for the noise of the clutch engaging but unfortunately I didn't hear a sound. I also check my defrost and defog settings and I didn't hear a peep as well. I am worrying cause humidity is just around the corner. SOS

Have you checked your fuses? Can you hear the compressor engage when you push the button?

Check first to make sure the belt didn't break and fly off. If didn't, and it is still turning when the engine is running, have someone else push the A/C button while you look at the compressor. There is a clutch on the front of the compressor that should click in.

If it doesn't, I'm pretty sure you have a bad clutch; the compressor itself is most likely still good.

Unless you have a serpentine belt that runs over the pulley of the A/C clutch, there would be a seperate belt to drive the compressor. There must be a serpentine belt driving the pulley then.

Only two things left: If you have checked the A/C and heater fuses and they are both okay, the the clutch on the compressor, that the belt drives is bad. You'll have to replace that or have it replaced.

Air conditioner most of the time blows hot air, espesially after car is hot. Also the RPM of the car dont go up when airconditioner on

keep all the doors of car open for 4/5 minutes before you start driving ,
this avoids hot air blown when ac started.

Also AC runs on battery & compressor takes heavy current while starting & running to ,this causes RPM to go down.
Also check with local automaker for battery capacity remaining.

2000 Mazda Protege LX AC starts cold, blows "vapor", then warms

Sure take your buddy with you when you go so he can drive you away while they fix it but you do the talking with your buddy standing by ready to leave. Yes low on freon condensate drain stopped up fan belt loose or needes replaced. This is an old car and the mechanics will likly find many things wrong with it make sure they know that you what them to run it awile after it's fixed so that it in with some gas in the tank so they won't worry about running out. Should get alot of repairs done for less than $200

My mazda 2002 protege is running hot when ac is on

your car temp is hot because the air-con automatic fan/cooler on the condenser is not functioning. check the electrical connections from the switch as well as from the compressor. otherwise check the thermostat. the fan should run when the aircon is switched on.

Lights flashing on a/c and air recirulate buttons

Sounds like its gone into programming mode. All you need to do is start your van. (if you are unsure what knob or lever is which I am looking in the manual for proper terms) Then slide your temp lever all the way to the left (full cold). Then turn the Mode Control to 'panel' (the one that sends air to your face only). Then turn the 'blower switch' to all the way to full. Now go to the leftmost three buttons. Press the top one (rear wiper on constant) and the bottom one (rear wiper washer fluid). Hold these two for a few seconds. Once the lights come on solid then begin to flash you can let go. The AC will now calibrate. You will feel the air blow out of all the different zones at different intervals and see lights come on and go off. Then after a minute or two the top bottn you pressed will be slowly flashing. This means it has been completed (I actually let it run for 5 more minutes just in case something else started blinking). Press the last flashing button and you are done.
