Question about 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee
I was sitting at idle and the car died then the tachometer started jumping it wouldnt start again. i replaced the TPS and it started right up. I drove home and it did the same thing while driving. Car shut off and tach was jumping again. Then trying to start it back up i heard a loud pop and my hood bumped up. I opened the hood and my cover was blown off that sits on top of the negine it says V8 Power tech on it. The air filter hose leads into this open box that the lid blew off of. I have no idea what to do now?
It sounds like the engine "backfired" and blew the cover off. This and having the tach "jumping" means that the engine timing is erratic. This can be caused by the crankshaft position sensor or the ignition module. It could also be cross firing at the coil pack,if so equipped. Make sure all of the wiring to these components is good.
