Typical for escorts. I hate to tell you, but your cylinder head is dead, and needs to be replaced. To verify this, do a compression test. Your cylinder compression should not be less than 100 psi on any cylinder. I bet at least 1 cylinder has zero compression.

Did the belt break? Is so, it could have bent valves. Are you absolutely sure you got the timing marks at the correct placement? Also check fuses. Check for fuel pressure and spark at the plugs.
Just cause the belt looks good doesn't mean the timing didn't jump. Could be a sensor. Did you have a service engine soon light or check engine light? Could be a weak coil and still have spark. Do you have a fuel shutoff switch/cable under kick panel or in trunk? May be that also.
Check for fuel pressure and check for spark during the no start condition. Also check the crank sensor, it is located behind the crank pulley mounted in the engine block on the 4.3 L engine I hope this helps.
Have you checked compression? Ford 2.0L engines are bad about dropping exhaust valve seats. Also are you sure your valve timing is correct? Possible timing belt problem.
was the timing belt changed, since it overheated the cam may have gotten tight and the belt might have jumped 2-3 teeth and you still would have a spark and fuel pressure.
ase mechanic here, check for timing belt slippage, maybe clogged fuel filter, or low fuel pressure, mass air flow sensor dirysome common fixes for that year car.

It takes "compression" for a engine to run. I have personally seen this issue with escorts over 50 times. Your cylinder head is dead.
