Check the ignition fusible link as there may be no power from the ignition switch getting to the solenoid on the starter.

You didn't mention the fuse rating of the one you replaced so this method may not help if it was higher than ~5 amps.At this point, I would wire a 12 volt bulb, preferably, one with 40-50 watts rating (headlamp will do fine) in place of the fuse that is blowing and start pulling likely connectors until the light goes out. If you don't get results this way, you might try disturbing one bundle of wire after another since this could be happening because of insulation that has been pinched or worn through to reach ground.
Using a bulb instead of bridging the fuse with a piece of coathanger will prevent melting the wire and possibly compounding the problem.

SOURCE: My 98 jeep grand cherokee wont start.

fuse 8 40a supplies power to starter relay and ignition switch, to close the starter solenoid and engage the starter which draws directly from the battery. check to see that the starter relay is closing, if not ensure that the park neutral switch is not faulty (open circuit), it provides path to close relay (ground side) on the 85 - 86 terminals. if the starter relay does not close the starter will not run. if you have a spare relay swap out the relay for a quick fix attempt. hope this helps

2001gmc jimmy wont start

Sounds like dirty corroded battery post connections...remove from battery clean and/or replace the post push in terminals...these can be purchased through your local parts store for under $5. They are push out...push new in also clean inside the battery connections...be sure new posts are tight...all systems will need to reset after the dis-connect...Hope this helps.

2001 GMC jimmy won't start. New starter, new

If the starter motor is turning the problem may be a broken flywheel tooth. If starter is not engaging the solenoid may be bad or not hooked up but that seems unlikely since starter was replaced. The problem's down there. If solenoid not clicking then problem may be further back.

My 99 Gmc jimmy will not start. the fuel pump is good the fuel filter is not clogged, i replaced the neutral safety switch, plugged in my code reader no codes, i believe it is the starter or the ignition...

Does it crank or not? If no crank then look at the starter or ignition switch. If crank but no start then look at the ignition system. Check for spark at the plugs and also check the fuel pressure. If there is spark try spraying a little starting fluid into the intake. See if it starts and stays running. If it stays running reply back and I will explain why.

2000 GMC Jimmy 4.3L CSEFI won't crank. Fuel pressure is 50psi and should be between 55 to 60psi. Fuel filter 1yr old and fuel pump is probably stock & needs replaced but never had problem before...

Check your starter and check your connections to make sure they are clean and tight. The low fuel pressure won't cause a no crank. Too low could cause a no start but not a no crank. I've had starters be bad right out of the box. But if that starter motor isn't turning either the starter motor is bad or the solenoid attached or the wiring to it is at fault.

My 2000 GMC Jimmy will not start. Changed the starter fuse and it worked for 2 starts and went back to not even tring to crank over. Checked the new fuse it was already blown...changed it again and it will...

Hi:
You really need to remove your starter and have it tested. If the fuse is blowing, then something, most likely the starter, is drawing too much current. Most places like auto zone will test your starter for free, so other than your effort to remove it, it will be a cheap thing to do, and it is most likely the cause.
