Question about 2004 Chevrolet Venture Passanger

Multiple Persistant Problems

Last July 2007, I bought my 2004 van second hand with 85K km from a car dealer, after one month I had to do a complete A/C replacement US$ 1,900, which includes the compressor, receiver, evaporator, filter and controller for passengers. After a week I had to change the Radiator and it's fan $550 because of overheating which didn't solve the overheating problem the temp still flactuates between mid and red signes. Noticed a noisy RF wheel bearing and when brakes applied seems to have little pressure. Mashing pedal as hard as possible only makes van come to a slow long stop. Auto transmission shifting deleys between 2nd and 3rd gear. Hard to shift from Parking to 1st gear if going down hell. Left Slide door latch not working by remote, passenger window not going down by passenger switch but only by driver switch. Same GM Dealer asks for US$8200 to fix van

Last month the van suddently stopped. I had to changed the fuel pump coil US$85 at a local mechanic to make it run, after that and almost immidiately the brakes pressure problem not stopping the van but after a long run happend and a check engine warning sign appeard. Is there any law or legislation would force the GM dealer to trade the van. They have done the radiator replacement on Sept 2007 and now are asking me to change the same radiator again. The van only ran 5K km since then?

Thanks Murphybanton, I would try that, otherwise I would convert the van to a garbage dumping vehicle and donate it to the municipality

That is a rip off.

A new and more recent car would be better off.

Sell this one and get a replacement instead of spending $8200 for repairs which will not likely end there.

Let the dealer sell it off or trade it in for you.

Rate this solution.

My van chevrolet uplander 2007 the first gear its only working and drive and 3rd the car did not move but engine still running

Sounds like you need a new gear box. This is an expensive dealer fix! You might get a rebuilt one from a second hand parts business

if the car was bought in 2007 then there is a powertrain warr up to 150k km bump to bump 60k km warr. Now its up to your dealer to cover it or not. The aftermarket fuel pumps are not that great. save a buck now and pay for it later or replace with a delco. You can get delco pumps on the internet a lot cheaper then the dealer. I would try your dealer first if they will cover this under warr

I have what appears to be excessive brake pad and rotor wear. Less than 10,000 km between need for pad replacements and rotor replacements or machining. 2007 100 series V8 PETROL TOYOTA landcruiser....

It could be something as simple as the caliper pistons are binding/sticking. which is inhibiting the smooth engage/disengagement of the pads on the disks.

It means taking each wheel off, probably removing the pads and cleaning the pistons, especially around the sides where they move in and out of the caliper. Maybe a little copper grease to aid movement.

1988 Plymouth Grand Voyager cutting out. On and off since the 1990's. In 2007 I bought a rebuilt engine to replace original engine. This did not solve problem. So I know the problem lies somewhere between...

If it's similar to my 96 Voyager it restarts after just a few seconds and seems fine. Cut outs are completely random as to frequency and driving conditions. In my voyager the solution was embarassingly simple. I had bought the car used with 172000 miles on it. It turned out it was still using the factory original fuel filter (date stamped 1995). A new filter and a fuel tank flush and no problems for the last thousand or so miles. Hope this helps, without more symptoms I can guess a lot of possibles, but this was the solution for mine.

Air conditioner not working for 4+ years

what you need is a real aircon technician, obviously the people fixing it don't know how to fix it.

if it is under warranty the dealer should have no choice, but you can check this out just in case.

Engine erratic on idle

changes on idle can be for multiple reasons, including type off gas related to climate or temperature, winter blend in summer or vise versa, if your engine is burning some oil wich all 1.8 do, then have them inspect and replace has needed, also your air mass flow sensor collects dirt over time specially if you run an aftermarket air filter, clean it , all of this if no check eng lite on, other wise refer to codes first.

Don't know what is causing the problem.

hi these boxes have always had problems they have said they cured them i suspect you will find that if you bought the car and have taken it back a month later its the garages responserbility to fix the problem at there expence if the garage refuses then get in touch with honda themseleves and insist they put it right as you will find there is factory recalls on these boxes of that year i cannot remember off the top of my head what they changed to repair the problem but it wasn,t a complete box i think it was the clutch solenoids but am not sure do a bit of digging i think you will find i am correct on the factory recalls yates210456
