2004 grand Jeep Cherokee is there a switch to put it in 2 wheel drive and where is this located

Not all cherokees were fitted with a 2 wheel drive option. You should have two shift sticks in the centre console. Your normal Park, Reverse and Drive selector and a smaller, shorter stick to the left of it.
This shorter stick will show you your drive options.
If you only have the first three listed yours is permanently 4 wheel drive, sometimes called AWD, (All Wheel Drive).
Starting furthest away from the engine, they should read as...
4Lo - Low ratio 4 wheel drive used just for 'off road' driving.
N - Neutral. This disconnects ALL drive to ALL the wheels.
4 FULL TIME - High Ratio 4 wheel drive. Normal road 4
wheel drive.
"Options that might not be fitted".
4 PART TIME - Automatically switches from 2 wheel drive
to 4 wheel drive if the rear wheels start to lose grip.
2WD - Dedicated 2 wheel drive only. Power is sent to the
rear wheels.

It goes in all the 4 wheel drive but want go in 2 wheel drive and a navigator have light inside that show that its in two wheel drive 1998

The vast majority of vehicles that have 2 wheel and 4 wheel drive will only light up something on the dash when in 4 wheel drive.(They also light up 4 wheel drive low if you have it) I've been driving 4 wheel drives for 25 years and have yet to see one that lights up something for 2 wheel drive.

My 97 explorer has a vibration in the frontend like its in 4x drive but i can feel it engage and disengage

Does dash indicate whether it's in 2 wheel, 4 hi,or 4 low?It sounds like it might be in 4 wheel low. With the car running in Park, try turning dash knob from 2 wheel to 4 wheel low and then back to 2 wheel..now depress the brake pedal. Instructions to to do this are usually on the driver's side sun visor.

4x4 K1500 Chevy Truck, 4 wheel drive repair instructions

There are a number of different hub systems so this may not work but it has worked for me on both auto and manual locking hubs. On a flat surface without traffic. Put the trans into neutral, shift the transfer case into 4x4, shift the trans into reverse and back the truck up 15-20 feet. Completely stop and shift trans into drive. See if this has locked the hubs in. If not, you can also try following the same instructions except shifting into 4wd low. Sometimes the hubs need a "bump" to get them to slip into place. Keep In mind that if the 4 wd low select works, you need to shift it back into 4 wd high before continuing! When taking the truck out of 4wd to 2wd, I recommend the same, shift to neutral, select 2wd, back truck up, shift back to drive and check. Its entirely possible that your hubs need maintenance (they're often overlooked) but hopefully this will get you going. Please let me know if thus worked or if I can offer other suggestions. Good luck!

4X4 ok on drive position but disengage in rear

Regarding 4 Wheel Drive problems,
Always follow Owners Manual for when and how to utilize 4 Wheel Drive. In most cases it should not be activated when vehicle is moving. Automatic Transmissions with 4 Wheel Drive have a Transfer Case similar to that used with Manual Transmissions. Shifting between LOW 4WD and HIGH 4WD should be selected while the vehicle is stopped. Again, follow Owners Manual Instructions. If you hear strange Grinding Noises have a Certified Technician check out your vehicle immediately.

Sorry that you are having troubles but, it sounds like the problem is more than a simple fix to me. If your Vehicle has Manual Locking Hubs make sure they are in the correct position for use in 4WD.

1999 chevy silverado service 4 wheel drive light

I had a similar problem with the Service 4 Wheel Drive light which came on intermittently then became more consistent in the message center display. It would go into 4 wheel drive if the message center did not display the Service 4 Wheel Drive message in the message center, but not when the message was displayed. I found the transfer case switch module in the dash was defective, and it has been working with no other problems for three years.

Economy

Any vehicle that has to drive its own wheels requires horsepower. The more wheels that require power the more energy spent. If you only require 2 wheel drive to get you along that is good. Sometimes 4 wheel drive is needed. 4 wheel drive is needed in drastic situations. Does 2 wheel drive and 4 wheel drive differ? YES The power required to drive 4 wheels is increased 5.7% as to run 2 wheels. 4 wheel drive should be used at slow speed to overcome loss of traction of 2 wheel drive.
I hope this helps Moe
