Problem is mechanical not electrical. with all connections disconnected transmission should still move fwd and rev. poss pump or pressure regulator. check to see if fluid level drops once vehicle is started (indicates pump is working).

Is the neutral switch the same as the transaxle range switch?

Yes they are the same part just different names. The neutral safety is part of the transmission/transaxle range selector combination switch.

2002 KIA SPECTRA 1.8 TRANS PROBLEM I, shift to drive this morning car shift fine then drop from 3-2-1- and stop no drive or reverse engine runs fine just lost all gears feels like neutral. did't...

With the motor running and the engine hood UP, stand near the driver's front wheel and look down below where you would add the brake fluid. You will see a black rubber handle. That's the dipstick for the transmission fluid. Remove the dipstick WITH THE CAR RUNNING, wipe the stick and replace it. Pull it out again and see where the fluid is on the stick. If there is no fluid on the stick you need to add at least two quarts of DEXRON III transmission fluid. It takes a special funnel and goes into the transmission where you took the dipstick out. They can help you at the parts store if you need help getting the transmission fluid back to the correct level. i have run my transmission very low many times and adding fluid always puts it back in shape.

If the fluid is okay, turn off the key and look up near the battery. Just below the air filter and battery area near the top of the transmission is a shift lever than controls the different gears that puts the transmission into gear. There's a big cable attached to it. Have someone shift through the gears with the CAR OFF and make sure you can feel that lever moving and you can see the cable pulling the lever into logical click positions. If it is shifting into the positions and you have fluid in the transmission you will need a transmisison shop to look at the car because you may have a bad electronic device that controls the transmisison or some internal transmission failure.

Engine quits when automatic transmission shifted into gear

Sounds like the mass air flow sensor. Have the vehicle scanned for codes . Do the repairs the codes indicate and erase codes.

Driving for 15 miles the transmission shifted to second gear and would not shift bact to drive. Two day later i drove 3 miles and every thing was find.

Had same problem with my '96 Windstar. Standing in front of the car and facing the engine, found that the vacumn hose coming from the rear to the upper right side of the engine top cover had swollen and was loose enough to allow air to flow in reducing the vacumn enough to affect the transmission shifting. The warmer the transmission fluid got the more it wanted to down shift and stay in the lower gear. Have your vacuum system checked, it could be leaking at any number of places. Hope this helps.

2004 MUSTANG REVERSE LIGHTS KEEPS BLOWING FUSE WHEN SHIFTED TO REVERSE , SWITCH IS UNPLUGED

Check for water in the transmission selector pack.

After rain or a good car wash, water can get into this transmission gear selector/sensor box.

attach to transmission, and move/select by the linkage RND21 movement.

I have to replace my selector box because the bad contact tell the trans computer it's on a different gear!
