Upper and lower ball joints

I need to replace ball joints i was told the upper and maybe the lower it is now making a clunking noise when turning in slow to park. do i have to take out the spring and shock in order to do this also would it be easier to just buy new upper and lower instead of pressing both of them out and replacing them

It's definitely easier to replace the control arms with the ball joints. I think you may have to buy new upper control arms anyway if they are oe i don't think the upper ones can be pressed out. If you are going to press the ball joints out you do not need to remove the springs or struts. Brake caliper/rotor/hub and knuckle are removed leaving the upper and lower control arms. i would disconnect the abs connector too if it has abs. recommend supporting the vehicle on the frame somewhere. You can buy a ball joint press kit for about 80$ online or use a really big hammer to smack them out. Putting them back in may be a pain without a press.

Turning left and right there is a loud clunk noise coming from the front

check your track rods on steering. and ball joints, clunking is more like to be the ball joints these wear out and make this sounds and make handling problems, replace both sides at the same time, to check them you can jack up without taking the wheels and hold at 12 o'clock and 6 o'clock and 3 o'clock and 9 o'clock and wiggle the wheel, this will also check the bearing in the wheel any excessive play, and sounds when moving that part needs to be located and replaced. lower ball joints you will need to remove the wheel and at the bottom where the hub and ball joint is locate a bar on this gap and if it moves up and down when pressure is applied then this has gone.

I have a clunk sound in the passenger front when turn left and also when i let off the brake after applying the brakes. i have changed on both sides of the car--- struts springs, lower control arm all...

You need to replace the upper control arm bushings and upper ball joint on both sides as well. You can buy them as a complete assembly. I had a similar problem and basically needed to replace everything in the front end of my 94 third. On mine the sound was the upper control arm shifting position on stops, starts, turns.

Clunk In Rear When I Turn

I would expect to find a ball joint, upper strut mount, or control arm bushing to be bad rather than the axle joints. Usually if a CV joint is going you hear a clicking noise as the wheel is turning not just one clunk. One clunk usually means something is shifting.

1998 jeep cherokee sport front end clunk when turning left

This could be almost any front end part, these Cherokees have front end problems that will drive anyone crazy, even techs .
Take a look at front end components, check for any broken sway bar link ends, these sometimes break and make noise when turning or going over a bump, they hit other components due to being broken.
The first thing is to check the front end. there are upper and lower are bushings that wear out, these are tough to check, you will need to really take a good look at them for wear. the next thing is the track bar, this is also hard to check due to the force on it, but you will need to check it by watching it for movement at the joint end as someone jacks truck up and lowers it.These trucks are also famous for ball joint problems, you will need to check them. jack up one side about 4 inches off the ground and with your hands grab the top and bottom of the tire and wiggle tire hard to check for movement in ball joint, if there is play then replace them. upper and lower, if there is no play then slide bar under the tire and pull up and and down this will apply and release pressure , this will allow you to check for play in the ball joint. you will feel and see movement in ball joint, have someone watch the ball joint as you pry on tire.
this is a start, good day.

you don`t say if this is a 4x4 truck.if it is it could be the Ujoints/halfshaft joints on the side thats making the noise.another thing to have checked is the upper and lower control arm bushings for being worn out causing the noise.just suggestions.

Clunking in the frount

A clunking sound in the front is very often the CV joints. This should be more obvious in a slow tight turn. If it is not the CV and is more noticeable on rough roads it could be any one if the suspension joints.

CLUNKING NOISE DRIVERS SIDE ONLY WHEN BRAKING

look under the seat for a bottle under it -

have your front end looked at -
Check your wheels - make sure - 100% that they are not loose by getting out the tire tool and tightening them just a little bit - or a lot if real loose.
