92 range rover county not reliable when engine is warmed up

Hey i have a rr county thats starts up when cool but when i drive it to run errands the truck starts misfiring, hesitation and surging then finally the engine shuts off and wont start,i checked the spark comming off the ignition wires into the spark plug and the spark was delayed, instead of it firing fast archs it would fire slow hesitant sparks example tick..tick..tick..tick...tick instead of tick tick tick tick tick if that makes sense, it had a pause in the firing, i left it sitting for 2 days and wouldnt start, so i towed it home and of course it started!, i have replaced the external ignition modual so i think its distributer problems, i also have a new fuel pump to install and gas tank, has anyone had these problems befor, the truck has about 160k if anyone can help it would be appreciated kindly thanks

This is going to sound a bit far-fetched, but I've had a similar problem with a '93 discovery... Turns out the problem was water in fuel tank.

2007 land rover range rover died while driving after a jump. Can you give me any advice

If you had to jump start the LR/RR then the battery was weak. If the car then ran for a while then died I would suspect that the alternator has failed and if you have no power the engine will stop running. The alternator is where I would look first .

You should also get the LR/RR scanned once you have power back and it is running again to see what engine related fault codes if any the computer is generating. All the local mechanics will have a scan tool to do this.

Your battery will also need to be recharged and checked for condition. If it is on its last legs it will need to be replaced, especially if the cranking amps reading is low. Only expect to get 3-4 years out of them.

My 89 RR county is back firing from start off until it speeds up. I changed wires, but not plus. Just recently it is making a rattling noise from the exhaust? Any Ideas or help?

plugs, wires, distributor cap and certainly the rotor. This will usually cure the problem. If at all anything else. The distributor may need to be adjusted to advance the timing.

No fuel when car is hot - won't start

I doubt it is the ECM, that doesn't really make any sense to me. I believe your fuel pump is the issue. What do you mean it isn't on under these conditions? When you do a long errand it start and is fine, right? It is heating up during your drive, then won't start up after your short errand. That's why I ask if a longer errand would be fine, and obviously in cold weather, this would be the same. A longer errand lets it cool down.

Does the engine crank and turn over easily when it is hot? If not, it could just be the battery, but I kind of doubt it. Also, you are using premium 92 octane gas right? That care needs it.

Lastly, if you give it some gas before you start and while you start it, you may get it started. I'd hit the pedal a few times before starting and definitely hit the gas when you start it.

It's not the ECM; I would be shocked.

Good luck!!

My 95 rr county is overheating. I replaced my thermostat and coolant doesnt leak. What can be causing the overheating?

the water pump may be defective, or the head gasket might be blown. Smell the exhaust and if it smells "sweet" - if so, have a cylinder leak-down test done to see if one of the head gaskets blew.

Check your earth wires on the gearbox and engine , check that no air intake pipes or vacuum hoses have come off with the engine tilting when you replaced the gearbox. Also check the brake vacuum hose.
