this was not my question, thank you

  • optimummortg May 23, 2009

no it is not a tire issue. The problem started immediatley after I filled gas tank. It shudders at times at idle, vehicle not moving. I have added fuel injector cleaner and dry gas. Some of the shudder went away but still present at certain speeds.

I didnt give a bad rating, I simlpy stated it had nothing to do with my vehicle. It appeared to be the answer to someone elses problem, sorry if you feel i was giving you a bad rating. I have an engine issue and you riveded a tire answer,...what else was I to think

Front or rear. you may have a shifted belt in a tire. to test this ... take off each tire and roll it down the driveway by itself... if it won't roll in a straight line or is very rough.... that tire needs to be replaced.

i fail to see why you would give such a horrid rating when a possible solution is offered... we are basically volunteers.... good luck with your vehicle...

see that red dot next to rating.... that's basically a penalty for trying to help you.... you stated it had a shudder. that can often be caused by a bad tire. if you had originally mentioned engine shudder you would have recieved another specific answer

If it has less than 100,000 miles it is under warranty. Most vehicles have a 100,000 mile warranty on drive train. It will save you hundreds of dollars. .

Shudder could be the lockup torque converter if it is an automatic transmission. Another one would be the drive axles. Check the CV joints and u-joint in the drivetrain. If the shudder comes and goes with load changes, it could be either. However, to tell if it is the torque converter, watch the tachometer when the shudder occurs. If the RPM rises slightly, then drops off as the shudder stops, it is the torque converter. There is an additive for this issue that can be purchased an any parts store, called shudder-ease. Hope this helps you.

Transmission shudders between 40-48 mph

Torque converter clutch not engaging properly.
I recommend taking the vehicle to a transmission shop This way they can determine whats causing the converter clutch to shudder and sometimes if the repair is electricalits not so bad ($). But other times its a rebuild($$$$). Good luck

1994 Buick Regal "shudders" while driving/ won't always up-shift

It is a 24 year old vehicle (made in 94), it probably needs to retire :>)

Take it to a transmission specialist rather than a normal garage, as it sounds like a sensor problem. It may also be rubber mountings that have perished, and the engine and transmission are only partially mounted to the chassis.
