You have an electric fuel pump in your car. And it's mounted in the top of the gas tank.

Fuel to injection pump. Relocated PMD new injection pump, no fuel out of pump to injector lines, no start?? what is the problem?

Sorry am not sure what PMD is?

You didn't say whether the injection pump is purely mechanical or whether there is electronic control or merely an electric fuel cut-off solenoid?
You also didn't tell us whether it is an in-line pump or a distributor type and if the latter is it hydraulically governed or mechanically governed?
Hydraulically governed DPA pumps are very difficult to bleed though during the bleeding process there is usually spits and spots of fuel through the injector lines.

It is unlikely a new or reconditioned pump would be so faulty as to not pump at all so the fault is likely to be with the fuel cut off solenoid. I suggest you check the supply and then check the solenoid operation.

Why does it have two fuel pumps 2000 jaguar s type

the s type models has a saddle type of fuel tank which means it has two compartments go over the rear transmission system ie, propshaft and differential. it has a electrical pulse width controlled pump to supply the engine.which is on rh and a jet pump on lh side of tank which is not electrical and uses a hydraulic type off system to transfer fuel from one side to the other to balance it all out and has two level sensors for fuel level indication which the instrument pack sorts out the differance for fuel level indications, hope that helps you.

Motor oil went up a lot in the crankcase

Assume you mean the engine oil level on the dipstick is getting higher?

I would be surprised if it is hydraulic oil (unless you know different) but I suppose diesel fuel is a possibility though it is many years since I have heard of such a thing, especially if the engine is otherwise running smoothly.
The last time I saw that was on a small diesel engine with a conventional dpa type injection pump driven by oil-fed gears. The pump had sprung a leak and begun to fill the engine. There was no mistaking the strong smell of diesel...

An internal coolant leak can have the same effect but without the smell of fuel.

97 lincoln missfire when warm. Especially going uphill. Rund fine until engine warm about ten minutes from starting. Changed all coils.

Sounds like fuel pressure is too low-either a weak , old pump, or you need to change the fuel filter-most likely, the pump, though. Check the fuel pressure specification for your car, most mpfi systems require 40-50 lbs. of pressure.

I have just overhaul my engine but when the ignition on it cranks but cant start

Which car is this? Anyway if its cranking then your starter motor and related wiring is fine. Open the engine oil filler cap or head cover and then try to crank and see if tappets are actually moving or not. You should also pop out the fuel line from carb / mpfi to see if actually fuel is coming out of line or not. Because sometimes fuel pump produce humm sound but do not actually pump fuel.

My ford Windstart don't start

  • Check spark plugs, plug wires, chokes, distributor, battery, fuses.
  • Check oil, water, fuel pump.
  • Check the air filter, injectors, fuel line.
  • If its a mpfi engine, then make sure all the sensors, pins are plugged
  • Mainly air intake sensor!!

Acts like vapor lock

when they went to fuel injection the fuel that was not used returned to the tank thus cooling the fuel and ending vapor lock, my question is did you do a fuel pressure test? and di you do a fuel leak down test? and the first thing I would do is change the fuel filter. with ethanol in the gas it kills the filter. I have to replace mine every three months they just plug up from that junk. Other than that the only other thing would be a coil breaking down when it gets hot the coil shorts out when cool it starts so check those things first. be sure fuel pressure is 50 to 60 PSI and does not drop below 30 PSI for at least a minute, if it does the fuel pump check valve is bad, also the fuel sock could be bad as well.

Fuel Pump

You might not have to change the pump at all. Get the fuel filter cleaned thoroughly, change it if required(its quite reasonably priced) and since this has MPFI (multi-point fuel injection) engine, either clean it by adding some nozzle clearing fluid or get the nozzles properly cleaned at a authorized service station, where they can connect it to a PC to check the status of the tiny holes of the injector nozzle.............................sodeep

Fuel pump

When an engine doesn't run, the first two questions are:
  1. Is there Spark?
  2. Is it getting fuel?
Since there is a relay for the fuel pump, it's got to be electric.

One way to check if the pump is working?

  • Turn your ignition to ON (not Start)
  • You should here a low hum come on as the fuel pump pressurizes the lines. It lasts for maybe two seconds and then cuts out.
  • If you missed it, turn the to OFF, wait 15-30 seconds, turn it back to ON.
To force the pump on (checking purposes only) involves that relay you replaced. More specifically, the socket you installed it in. To do this:
  • You need a short piece of wire, stripped at both ends
  • Pull the fuel pump relay. Notice it has five 'spade' type connectors on it. Two vertical, three horizontal.
  • The two outside of the three horizontal are the 'Normally Open' circuit. When these close the fuel pump runs.
  • Turn your ignition to ON
  • To close them manually, locate the two corresponding holes in the socket and put the wire ends in them
  • You should hear the pump start. Whether you do or not, pull the wire. Replace the relay
If you heard the pump run, I'd check for spark. Then I'd check fuel pressure at the injector rail.

I'll need more info to take you through that (engine size, confirm MPFI)

Another question, the last time you filled it with gas, was it nearly empty? Sometimes **** at the bottom of the tank can gum up the works.

Hope this helps
