Gearbox / clutch exploded

Had new clutch fitted 3 weeks ago to 1.8i avensis. started intermittent whining then crunched to halt and was a hole in gearbox / clutch bell housing. suspect garage did not add oil back after change , is this likely , or could it cause this ?

I think you hit the nail on the head with this one. It sounds like no oil was in and you ran it it got hot and bang. I would take it back to the mechanic and make them repair it

I had new clutch fitted 3 weeks ago now the gear stick has gone loose and I only have 3rd and 4th gear

Sounds like one of the rods between the gear lever and gearbox has become detached. One rod transmits the forward-backward motion, the other left - right, with the "natural" bias keeping the lever in the 3rd / 4th gear plane - hence why you've only got 3rd and 4th gear.

You should have some guarantee from the company that fitted the clutch so contact them to sort it out.

Crunching when changing gears on a pajero

check the oil level of the gearbox, if level is low or oil is too thin will cause it to crunch. put an 80w90 gear oil into it if needs fill or change/ also check the clutch is fully disengaged. maybe clutch hydraulics have air in the system, this will reduce the travel of the clutch fork and not fully disengage the clutch. to see if its the clutch hydraulics select 1st gear push in the clutch and start the engine, if it starts to creep forward check out the hydraulics. if all this ok, prob be the synchro rings internal in the gearbox

I Have A 1995 Eagle Talon It Is A Manual Transmission Every Other Gear Shifts Fine Besides 3rd Gear It Grinds What Is The Problem And What Can I Do To Fix It The Least Expensive Way???

manual ,well try pumping some grease into the gearbox your problem is a worn baulk ring on the syncro and to fit a new cluster is a gearbox out type repair job.More that the car is worth no doubt so add a grease gun full of LM grease to the gearbox and learn how to double the clutch so you can change gear without a crunch .

is it an auto? if its a manual then its either your clutch, or gearbox does it make a crunching sound when going into gear? if it does then it's the clutch gone. careful driving it as you might damage the box
