Question about 1992 Honda Accord

1 Answer

Camshaft keeps breaking in the same spot!

Our 92 Honda Accord went dead while driving. We changed out the coil pack, distributor cap, rotor button, spark plugs. The camshaft was broken and it was replaced. When we tried to start it again, the camshaft broke in the same place. Help!

You have to make sure you dont have a stuck valve wich is causing it to put pressure on cam and break I had a customer with same problem.

How do you set timing to install distributor if changing motor on 02 accord

You DON'T...An '02 Would have a "DistributorLESS" Ignition System at least originally (IF you DO HAVE a distributor on your '02...perhaps the motor and Ign. System are from an earlier model).
2002 has a 'coil-pack' as opposed to an Old School distributor cap and Rotor set up. This system relies on Cam and Crankshaft Position Sensors to relay positions of the above items to the ECM/PCM. The ECM/PCM then [in turn] acesses this information and appropriately adjusts 'timing'.

I started my 92 honda accord in the morning and about was driving to school and my car had very little power no faster then 30 mph i turned around and started back home and 2 blocks later it seemed to...

take off one of the plug wires and hold it next to a metal surface, get someone to turn the engine over for you and see if the spark is bright blue, if it is the coils are ok, then check for oil leaking around your distributor, if you have an oil around that area take off the distributor cap and see if there is oil inside. the seal may be gone, while you have the cap off it would be a good time to check the rotor button inside

91 accord will crank but STILL not start

cars wont start without fuel so it could always be A) fuel pump B) fuel filter C) fuel injecters dirty. any one of these will cause fuel not to reach your spark plugs and cause then eng not to start

Would crank but would not start in extremely cold weather. Now it won't start at all but fires on and off.

Do a tune-up, Plugs, rotor button and distributor cap. Not sure if your model has a cap or coil pack. When you say fires off and on do you mean it starts off and on or you get ignition spark off and on. If you have a cap, the rotor button can get worn down and not make good contact with the contacts inside the cap. When engine rotates the rotor button rotates inside the cap which produces spark through your plugs wires. If you have a coil pack, it could be going bad. If coil packs get moisture within it and diffuses the spark from going into the plug wires. Moisture and wetness causes a lot of problems with the ignition system, so it's best to apply Di-Electric Grease to the coil pack, wire boots on both ends. The grease stops moisture from getting into the components and sparks from jumping to the moisture.

1992 Honda Accord died

Ignition coil, transistor, rotor, distributor cap or other component in ignition circuit like ignition switch- may crank but no spark. In that order. Good luck.

My 92 accord turns but have no spark

It likely has a bad igniter in the distributor. It is the same as an ignition module, but Honda calls it an igniter.
