Question about 2000 Ford Mustang

When the driver's side window button is pressed, there is a "click" sound from the window motor but the window doesn't move. How do I check the window motor and/or the control console?

The push button control operating the driver's side window on my 2000 Mustang Convertible does not actuate the window. I have removed the door panel and can hear a "click" when the button is pressed but the window "motor" doesn't move the window. Because I can hear the "click" at the window motor when the button is pressed I have assumed the motor is faulty. How can I be sure that's the case?

While holding the button in the down position with the key in the "on" position tap on the window motor with a hammer. Or if the window is down, hold the button in the "up" position. If window starts working when you do this there is most likely a bad spot on the armature in the window motor or the brushes in the motor have worn out. Hope this is helpful. Good luck.

The click you hear is probably the relay. if you have a way of checking to make sure that you have voltage at motor that will pretty much tell you what you want to know . if the motor is supplied with power but does not operate, it's bad. you will need a test light or volt ohm meter to test it, but you can make a test light with two pieces of wire and a 12 volt light bulb, might want to get a socket for the bulb so you don't have to try to hold four wires at same time. the window motor is a permanent magnet reversible motor, if you can remove it you can take it to car parts store and they can probably test it by connecting it to 12 volts and seeing if it moves.

1996 nissan pathfinder driver side window won't go up and down

does it click or grind when pushing window button if so the window lift track may need replaced, if there are no sounds then disconnect the wires from the lift motor and with the ignition on so power is sent to switch, push button and check wires to 12 volts dc. If no power I would replace the driver side switch after checking the wires for defects. If there is power then I would re-install wires to motor after turning off key and try button again with power on. replace motor if it doesn't work.

Driver sidewindow

Either the switch or the motor. . Remove the switch bypass it and see if the window moves . If it does its the switch if it doesn't its the motor.

Drivers side window not working, when i press the button i hear a click and passenger side works fine. 2003 Ford Focus any suggestions thankfully recieved. Dean-o

sounds like a window lift motor, maybe try and bang on the door a few times while you hit the button, if that doesnt work you may have to take the door panel off and test the wires at the window motor

Drivers side window on my 2002 mercury sable will not go up. when pressing the window up switch all I get is a clicking sound

well dont feel bad if your getting a clicking sound. chances are the driver side window motor has worn out. you may be able to pull it up while pressing the up button. but if you get it up i wouldnt let it back down until you repaired it
