Noise coming form engine compartment. maybe the a/c compressor clutch. a/c off and the lines are cold

The car was working fine. turned the a/c on it seemed to work ok. parked at work. after work, I started the car and got a strange noise. it seems to me that the a/c compressor is going bad. maybe the clutch? what do you think? all other engine indications are normal. I did notice that with the a/c off the line from the accumulator was cold.

Car keeps dying when I turn the ac on

Can you provide more details, type of vehicle, only acts up with a/c on, if you turn a/c off and turn the defrost on, sometimes the manufacturer will have the a/c compressor cycle, does the vehicle still act up?

Screaming noise from ac no cold air

It sounds to me that your belt or tensioner is worn, if the noise goes away when the ac is off then it is just the belt slipping, it takes a lot of power to run the compressor and if the belt is worn it most likely slipping on the pully when you engage the clutch.

If it is coming from the engine compartment it may be the clutch on the compressor.

I turned on my air conditioning today for the first time since last fall... it was not blowing cold air. It was working fine the last time i used it 3 months ago. Could it be a fuse problem?.. or maybe...

While the engine is running as you turn on the A/C , the compressor will latch on now as you will find the engine faulting in RPM as it comes on. Now if this is so the compressor, the solenoid clutch is good and the fault can be only loss of gas in the system. If not the compressor pumping pressure needs a check. Also if gas has leaked the system needs a test for leaks.

Stopped blowing cold air then noise from engine compartment

Check engine compartment to determine if compressor hub is turnable or is locked up, this hub is engaged to the pulley when it's cluctch is actuated(if its in parts you might only need a compressor clutch)

Noise from A/C Compressor

Hi,it is allways better to remove the compresor ,do to the lack of room to work on the engine compartment,by what you are telling me it sounds like your compresor is bad you may try to replace the bearing but you may found the compresor on line for the same price with less troubles. good luck.C1

Additional noise

Sounds like the a/c compressor or clutch is worn.My guess would be the clutch, this part mounts on the pulley of the compressor.
