Re: Avalon door panel
Below are the removal procedures for your vehicle's front inner door panel.
On models without power windows, remove the snap ring retaining window crank handle. Remove crank handle and cover plate. Remove lower door frame bracket garnish. Using a screwdriver, remove inside door handle bezel. Remove power mirror control switch and disconnect harness connector. Remove armrest panel. Remove 6 screws. Pry interior door panel loose from door.

i know on some toyotas, you do not need to remove the door panel just the handle where the switch assembly is located...if the panel around the switches is plastic then pry GENTLY up on the plastic to dislodge it from the door handle and inspect connections there...if everything checks out fine, then check fuses...perhaps this was a problem for so long that the window motor finally blew a fuse. if so replace both fuse and motor...if fuses okay, then with a long screw driver locate any screws under the door handle, bottom of the door panel, mirror panel etc, and remove...then gently pry outwards on door panel until it is released. disconnect your harness at the window motor and hook in a test light and operate the switch..if light illuminates, replace motor..if not, then replace switch or switch panel..which ever/.
A: To remove the plastic piece with the door lock button and door handle connected to it:
1- Remove the screw in the middle located behind a plastic cover button 2- Push (slide) the whole assembly Forward (toward front of car) Besides the screw, it is held in place by 3 hooks on the backside that hook into holes in the metal door frame 3- Now unhook handle from small metal bar going through door by pushing (toward door) plastic clip (blue?) off of the bar, then the bar will come out of the clip hole, thus releasing the handle. 4- Depress little grey button /bar (purple painted on it)on elec. connector to seperate connector, thus releasing door lock switch
Now the whole assembly (metal handle, door lock switch, and plastic piece) will come off door panel
B: The door is held on by 2-screws, 7-plastic snaps/plugs, and 1-plastic plug.
The screws are located: bottom of hand hold and the other behind the handle, both covered by little covers that have to be pryed off to access the screws.(hint: the screw with the built in spacer goes behind the handle when you are trying to reinstall) The 7-plastic snaps: 3 across bottom and 2 on each side. Not visible, they are mounted to the inside of the panel. The 1-plastic plug is visible at the upper front of the panel and is the same color as the surrounding trim
C: Take off the big plastic triangle piece above the door panel and behind the mirror. Pull/pry off. It has 2 snaps holding it on. one near bottom and one near the front.
D: Light lens prys off from bottom. Unscrew (1/4 turn) the light assembly with bulb still intact from backside of panel
Depends on what door trim you are trying to replace. If you are trying to replace the door trim on the front doors you need to remove two screws from behind the casing around the door handle and then remove a screw from the bottom left of the door and then there will be a screw on the left of the door as high as the arm rest on the door. Finally pull up on the door panel and out to remove the panel. Remove the harnesses and you are complete.
If you are trying to remove the rear doors you need to remove a screw from the bottom of the door again near the left side then remove the screw from behind the casing that surrounds the door handle. Finally pull up on the door panel and out to remove the panel. Remove the harnesses and you are complete.
There should be at least 2 screws that are hiden in the door panel. One around the arm rest and the other down by the light/reflector.
Take those out and the panel should lift up. Becareful there will be a ton of wires that are attached to the door. Disconnect each of these and the panel will be free to remove.
You should have access to the speaker at this time.
there will be two bolt that are hidden under your arm rest they will probably be hidden little caps that just pop off most likely a star screwdriver you will need a window handle remover tool if you have power windows dont worry about it but you will also need a door panel clip remover tool or you can get by with a screwdriver covered in a cloth insert at bottem of the door an gently pry untill the door clip start to pop and release you will also need to remove a screw where you open the door from the inside hope you get it off if you break any of the door clips(happens all the time) just take broken one to the dealer or canadian tire or parts jobber hope this helps
