Question about 2005 GMC Yukon Denali

Popping in the Front End

THere is a loud popping/grinding noise coming from the Front Driver tire area. It is a 2005 Chevrolet z71 with 68000 miles on it. Doesnt sound like the roaring when wheel bearings go out. Thought maybe the CVC Joint had broken but I was told there would be a red fluid leaking if that was the problem. I cant see anything leaking. Is this popping noise inconsistant. Mine only happens about every five miles or so and for only a few seconds at a time. I was told bearings and CV joint is there a way to tell the difference so I don't replace something that doesn't need it

Thanks
Jeff

Check yor lugnuts. Then chk to see if you have a brake pad that might be skipping back and forth. When you hear it again, apply light pressure to the brakes, safely and when noone is behind you. The pressure will snug the brake pads so they can't move but in forward rotation taking up any slack.

Loud popping noise coming front passenger side of

Most likely cause of loud popping noise would be a broken or breaking cv shaft. The cv drive shafts have a rubber boot around the bearings on the shaft. Look for a broken rubber boot on the shaft that runs from the transmission housing to the wheel hub area of front wheel. If you find a broken or cracked boot then most likley the **** needs to be replaced to solve your problem.

Popping and grinding when i turn the steering wheel to the left. worse when the car is warm

I know on older cars that popping noise from the front end is often the cv joint, which is used in front wheel drive vehicles. Get it checked quick. The grinding noise could be a bad brake pad, which also needs to be checked a.s.a.p. Good Luck.
