Question about 1999 Suzuki Vitara

1 Answer

Electrical issue I have a 2002 Suzuki Vitara 5 spd. manual. I was plugging in an adaptor to the cigar lighter (as I've done a million times) to charge my mobile, when the radio switched off and went blank immediately. Now, the clock on the face of the (factory installed) radio illuminates only when the tuning knob is pushed and the radio itself will not turn on. Interestingly, it does keep time but does not remain illuminated. Also, the charging port (in the middle console) and the cigar lighter do not work. Wipers, door locks, windows and all lights appear to continue to function. I have tried changing out the fuses (I could only find the one fuse box under the hood of the car, next to the battery) and this did not affect the problem. Thank you!

Ok. So, how do I fix that?

Would that spike charge also have affected the cigar lighter and the outlet in the center console? Will replacing the radio correct the outlets, too?

Pushing in the knob normally turns on the lamp for a clock reading. It sounds like a spike charge flushed through a capacitor and burned it out

You won't fix that for its embedded in the radios circuitry. You will need to have the radio head repaired or buy a used replacement

I have a 2001 Suzuki Vitara, 5 speed manual, 2.0L 4WD. I cannot select and gears, there is alot of pressure and will not go in. Reverse can be with some grinding. When i start it up in first gear and try...

H there,

It's either related to your clutch (is it cable operated or hydraulic?) being out of adjustment or low fluid pressure, or you have a loose linkage.

I would investigate these 2 issues, before looking at the gearbox.

Also, have your vehicle checked for diagnostic codes in case it is an electrical issue.

Cheers,
