Thanks for the advice on dropping transmission. Dealer rep changed his mind on cost after I talked to him. I saved many $.

Transmission has to be dropped or engine pulled to access rear seals do you have a stick or auto 2wd or 4wd? Big difference in labor charge. After dropping tranny or pulling engine oil pan has to be removed to access actual seal, then crankshaft removed with all bearings, might as well do bearings and front seal too. It's a big job with a big price tag but I can narrow it down for you on book prices with a bit more info.

Actually yeah you are in luck that combination only requires dropping the oil pan. The seal is actually fairly easy to do it yourself, if your inclined. Parts about $20.00 and it's book rate is 5 hours. around here shops charge around $85/hour. About $500.00 out the door or under $50.00 if you want to get greasy. Here's a good picture guided step by step on a Jeep CJ with a 4.0 liter, yours is pretty much the same:

How hard is it to replace the rear maine oil seal on a 1994 Jeep Grand Cherokee 5.2 liter V8 4 wheel drive

There is some work involve in replacing rear main seal, seal sit in the rear of the engine block, the transmission will have to be remove, and the fly wheel to get to the rear main seal.If you have never removed a engine or transmission, it might be best to pay and have some one do it for you.

Bad rear axle bearing and seal on a 2000 jeep grand

the bearing does not always have to be really bad for the seal to fail. Centrifugal force will throw axle grease outward where it gets on the rotor. That can make it feel like the rotor is out of round. If grease got on the brake pads I'd replace them and perhaps even the rotor. As far as the caliper being frozen, possible....check it out when you have it apart. You can have more than one shoe untied at the same time. Not always, but it can happen.
When replacing the seal make sure you put some grease on the lip before putting the axle back in. by doing that it won't fail from dry running before the diff lube reaches it.

95 Jeep Gr. Cher, rear pass window won't roll-up.

If you inspect the harness, it really does not matter what the wire color is if the wire is damaged, repair it
Any broken wires are not a good thing. Also check the wires for the door that has the problem as well. The master switches on jeeps are poorly made and sometimes replacing it will help...I use scrapyard parts for that. A test light and decent voltmeter are very helpful in finding and verifying voltage in wires.

Engine overheating

Try to flush the system And inspect radiator. When moving the engine is also cooled by air. Make sure the water is circulating trough the manifold and the heater core. You can do this by atching a garden hose to each hose one at a time. You may also want to check the waterpump & thernostat..

My 01 Jeep Gr. Cher. radiatot fan doesn't work. The motor checks good and the fuse is good. What's next and how to do it?

O man ok you need to check the fan relay they fail all the time. It is located under the passenger side headlamp. remove the headlamp. you have to cut a small hole in the plastic molding about 2x2 inch square should do it. replace the relay u should be good to go. They run about 50 dollars at the dealer. I think they are the only ones that carry them. Hope that helps.

"coolant sensor bad" warning comes on all the time.

The jeep should have 2 coolant sensors, one guage sensor and one switch. Try replacing the other one that you haven't already replaced.

2001 gr cher wont unlock with key but will unlock with remote

Make sure that the Key is not missing any teeth. Could just be Worn down too far. If these are Ok, Key some Graphite from any Auto Parts Store and Squirt it in the Key holes. Am I wrong thinking that you have usually always used the Remote to Open?
