If you were trying to locate the alternator itself, it will be under the large black plastic intake tube going from the top of the motor to the left side, into the air cleaner box. This will have a plastic strap that goes around the tube on one end and usually a metal hose clamp on the other. Let me know if this helps :)

Some cars have a fuse for the alternator instead of link. The belt is on correct and all connections are tight? What's voltage while running? Year model?

I have a 98 Ford Taurus. Somehow water got into alternator and back charged everything. the radio went out i replaced the alternator, the car started right up, but the battery indication light came and it...

Sounds like you fried a circuit or two. The battery light means the alternator is not charging the battery which you know.
The charging circuits will need to be checked, it could be a fuse or a fuseable link which is a wire that acts like a fuse.

Where is the charging system fuse located on a 1998 chevy s10

Well there isn't a fuse as such.
The alternator gets a signal thru the gauge or warning light on the dash, the circuit from the alternator to the battery is protected by a fuseable link which is a wire that acts like a fuse. It is usually attached at the starter solenoid.

If my vehicle receices a jump start and it won't hold a charge , what is wrong with it ?

If the alternator is charging, and the battery will not hold a charge, I would suspect the battery.
If the alternator is not charging the battery, I would look at the fuseable links and connections.

1997 RAM Sport 5.9L will not charge the battery. Altenator is new, connections are correct, circuit breakers and fuseable links are good. Am told the regulator is inside the PCM, if true is there any way...

Nothing to do with the PCM ,renew the thick cable from + on back of alternator to battery direct to the positive terminal on the battery then see if it charges ,now how to test alternator is to start vehicle then take the neg battery lead off and if it keeps running then alternator is ok if engine stops then its a faulty alternator ---end of story ,who ever tried to tell you the charge is controlled by the PCM i would respectfully suggest that you tell them they need to return to college to study motor vehicle technicians ,city and guilds of london

Have a 1990 Pontiac Sunbird.Charging problem, replaced alternator and battery still same problem. Is there a fuseable like wire coming off of the alternator harness somewhere I need to look at.

If the old alternator had a shorted diode, it would have blown the fuseable link which is located somewhere between the alternator +12 volt terminal and the starter solenoid--it should be hanging out of the wiring harness and look burned if open. Be sure to replace it with the correct part and use crimped '****' splices to reconnect. The battery should show over 13.5 volts when the alternator is providing charge. Hope this helps!

Where is the location of the fuseable link for the alternator on my 2000 honda accord ex

If the charging light is on its because the alternator failed. Get it tested to verify this, You don't have a fuse for the alternator.

If the charging light is off and you have a dead battery then the battery prabably failed. You can get this tested also
