Question about 2003 Dodge Neon

Speedometer/RPM Gauges Stuck

I have a 2003 Dodge Neon SXT. Last weekend the battery died, and in the attempt to find out that that was in fact the problem the speedometer and RPM gauges did a 360 and are now stuck on the back side of the pins. We've unplugged the new battery, we've checked all the fuses, and even tried to reset the odometer button (per advice previously listed here). Does anyone have any other ideas? I'd hate to take it to a garage to be charged an arm and a leg just for a quick fix! Thank you!

Gages are always a problem. Check with you dealer for most are sold as rebuilts with exchange of your old one. Most American made cars have cluters made by Nippondenso and are all imported to the USA. No one here repairs them for the circuitry design and mileage factors are called in before the order is placed

The odometer and RPM gauge on 03 SXT are stuck. They went 360 back

Try this, it works on other Chrysler products.

Insert key and turn to run position. put odometer on the trip position. turn key off.

While holding trip meter reset button in, turn key to run position ( dash lights will be on ) release trip meter reset button and watch the gauge cluster go through a test cycle.

After this cycle the gauges should return back to normal.

Hope this works for you.

Speedometer of 2003 dodge neon does not work and gas gauge is jumpy. replaced 2 input and output vss sensors and still won't work. no codes show on scanner

some of these have had problems with the dash assembly causing alot of problems with gauges and lights and speedometers.if there are no codes in the computer and weren`t any before you replaced the vss sensors then you spent money you didn`t need to.

2005 Dodge Neon SXT Transmission

Follow throttle valve cable to linkage above shifter cable and linkage. Probably slightly seized and hanging up, causing it to stay in lower gear too long. Hard to see, might have to remove battery and battery tray to get at it good. It has to move freely, and it will usually seize up unless lubed regularly. Should be able to move it easily back and forth by hand. Spray it good with WD-40 or whatever to loosen it up, then coat with white lithium spray grease as well. P.S. do not remove throttle valve linkage (top one) to clean or lube it, otherwise you'll be pulling tranny apart to fix it.

Cam Shaft Sensor Problems

Had the same problem before on my 04 Neon SXT...camshaft sensor is on left side of engine block, take out the battery and to the left of it (face car) is the camshaft position sensor. To change it you'll have to move a few hoses but its plan to see there on the left side of the engine...pretty easy remove and replace. Fixed my problem of car not going above 2k RPM when i replaced the sensor.
