Try this, it is the common reason for this problem.
Here is the common cause of surges, stalls at stops, slow idle speed, erratic idle speed, rough idle and engine hesitation (and other problems), it is in most cases the idle speed control air-bypass valve and or throttle valve and upper intake, these area's get full of gunk and combustion residue over the miles and cause idle issues (stalls, low idle) like yours, Get a can of intake cleaner from any local parts store, not carb spray, intake cleaner, it is made by a company called CRC, remove the air intake hose to the engine, hold the idle high so the engine won't stall, then spray the can of cleaner into the intake while keeping the engine running, use at least 1/2 the can, shut down the engine and disconnect the battery for 5 minutes, then restart and complete a number of mixed driving cycles, town, freeway, stop and go etc., after a few days the problem will go away as the system will relearn to the clean intake

Check for vacuum leaks & if you find none,
have the entire vehicle smoke tested for leaks

You have unmetered air coming from somewhere

Idels to high when running

I am going to assume this is a full size Bronco with a 4.9 or 5.0 engine.
The computer controls the idle speed by the amount of air allowed into the intake thru the idle air control valve.
If the throttle body is dirty or the valve fails, or if you have a serious vac leak, the engine RPM will be higher than normal.

The Bronco has TWO fuel pumps, a low pressure and a high pressure. Low pressure is located in the fuel tank, the high pressure is located....Attached to the LH frame rail ahead of the fuel reservoir.
my guest would be the high pressure pump is getting hot and shutting off, cooled down and starts back up again ??

I have a 1981 ford granda will start but i have to keep my foot on the gas or it will die what should i do?

If the car sat for 3or more months the gas may have left residue in the carb plugging the idle jets.It will probly run as long as the rpm is kept high enough to stay off the idle circut. the carb must be disassembled and cleaned.I'd also change the fuel filter.

87 bronco 5.0 stalls coming to a stop

almost sounds like a binding on the ignition switch.
if you have to lift up the gear lever to start then its not aligned right. The switch you need to replace it not where the key goes in but its located under the dash just above the drivers knee area, on the top of the steering column. A metal bar attaches from the key area to the center of this switch and my bet is the switch is worn out.
