Question about 1995 Volvo 850

Pulled Codes Volvo 1995 850 Need Help

I pulled the codes on my 95 Volvo 850 GLT 5-Speed and I got the following:

512 - short term fuel mixture too rich
121 - Mass Airflow Sensor absent or faulty
223 - Idle air control valve absent or faulty

any suggestions? Im mostly wondering about the 512 code and why that would occur. Ive been told its from a bad O2 sensor

    Just got another code pulled:
    113 - short term fuel mixture too weak

    what would cause that?

    I removed the IAC and completely cleaned it with carb and choke cleaner as well as electrical cleaner because it evaporates so fast. Im still thinking its the O2 sensor because of how rich the engine is running. It literally went through a gallon of fuel while it was at 1500 RPM for a little over 10 minutes. MAF would make sense though. My mom's MAF sensor went out and it would sometimes ilde rough and would cut out at times.
    I was trying to figure out if the IAC was bad; the parts moved just fine when I shook it in my hand, I could feel the spring working. How do you know if its bad.
    I also tried cleaning my O2 sensor before all of this happened as well as my MAF sensor and then this happened. So it could be a combination of a poorly functioning O2 sensor and a semi-working MAF sensor that's causing my problems

    I ordered Bosch MAF and O2 sensors so I hope they fix the problem. If not, hey, I have a new MAF and O2 sensor so Ill at least get better MPG :)

    Volvo uses there own Volvo unique codes and therefore there is no info avail outside of the dealer on the troubleshooting, so u might as well bite the bullet and take it in.

    Considering prices charged by Valvo, 240,00 miles on a 2003 auto. Guess I'll pass on the dealership. .

I would lean toward the MAF sensor they were known for going bad, which would cause all these codes. It wouldn't hurt to take the IAC off and spray it out with carb cleaner and some WD40, just to cover your bases. Both these units were made by Bosch and the MAF failed alot more often then the IAC.

    If you want to test that IAC, there are 3 pins in the connector you can put a ground on the center pin and apply 12 volts to the outside pins, one at a time. If the vane inside switches back and forth when you alternately touch the pins, the IAC is fine.

95 Saturn sl1 keeps cutting off when going Down the road. And sitting still replaced air idle control valve and fuel filter and cleaned the egr valve but still cutting off .

code p0102 refers to MAF/VAF sensor ---low input ===causes --wiring short to ground. MAF/VAF sensor
code po172 refers to system too rich --bank 1=== causes ---intake blocked --EVAP canister purge valve---fuel pressure ---HO2S sensor
code po random misfires ---plugs --wiring ---injectors--low compression
code po305 refers to cylinder 5 misfire detected ===causes --engine mechanical fault--ignition/ fuel system ---injector ---ECT/MAF

I would check that the air filter is not blocked first as it affects the MAF/VAF sensors . Have a fuel pressure system pressure test done

What does fault code ECM - 250A long term - fuel trim:upper limit on 2004 volvo S40 mean

Sound like a problem with the MAF sensor, try replace.

Pulled codes for ECM-250A long term fuel trim upper limit, inspected and found air mass sensor failing internally, should show 4 f/s at idle and is showing 2.98 f/s at idle. Recommend replacing with new.

The control module receives information from the heated oxygen sensor (HO2S) about the fuel/air mixture when idling at both the lower and upper part-load range - If the fuel/air mixture deviates from [lambda]=1 the short-term fuel trim will compensate for this by adjusting injection time so that [lambda]=1 is achieved. When the short-term fuel trim makes an adjustment, the integrator median must be adjusted by the long-term trim. Diagnostic trouble code (DTC) ECM-261A will be stored when the long-term trim must be adjusted to maximum in the lower part of the load area.

Code 221--- is this usually oxeygen sensor

If it is a Bosch LH 3.2 Jetronic System 221 =long term fuel mixture too weak in part load stage
If it is a Fenix 5.2 System 221=Lambda Operation; also Heated oxygen sensor (mixture too rich under part throttle)
/ long term fuel mixture too weak in part load stage

'06 Volvo V50 drivers seat belt is jammed, there is no play in the belt and the ratchet locks immediatly no matter how gently it's pulled. Same problem with passenger side the day before but it righted...

I solved this on my 95 volvo 850 glt as follows:

pull the seatbelt pilar cover off from the door jamb. this runs vertically up the pilar between the front an back door (beside the front seats. Once opened loosen the belt by gently pulling the belt upward toward the roof. You'll have to do this sometimes in small increments. Once the seatbelt is pulled out all the way, spray small amount of lubricant into the joint where at the top of the belt spool. Also use a screw driver to push spool upward while pulling the belt. At first it's only going to release a little but eventually the lubricant will work its way into the seam at the top of the belt spool and loosen up the stuck inertia catch. Until it completely loosens you might have to remove the pilar cover again and work the seatbelt out (also use the screw driver technique described above) in order to use the seatbelt. When parking, I would relatch the seatbelt and pull the slack up around the back of the head rest. After a day or so it worked normally.

Are these codes read from the A2 - engine slot? if so:

121 - missing or faulty MAF signal
512 - long term fuel trim too rich

95 volvo 940 DL hesitates injector error codes 113, 212, 232

Check the fuse to the injector. If it is out or got wet, it could mimic these conditions. let me know what happens. I have an 85 model.
