Question about 2004 Chevrolet Cavalier

1 Answer

Car died out, there is gas in the car, fuel pump is ok, seems that gas is not being deliverd.when the car does start and you rev the gas it seem to bog down. We have replaced the fuel pump, fuel filter, fuel injection pressure sensor, and the torque converter turn off switch. The car starts right up sometimes and then stalls. Sometimes it starts and drives only to stall on the road. Sometimes it just doesn't start at all. Don't know any good reliable mechanics so if it's something simple we would like to fix it ourselves.

First you need to put a little fuel in the air cleaner and see if it will start .. or use either to see if this problem is fuel.. sounds like the fuel pump might be giving out .. this is where I would start and let me know if it runs .

This also can be something that can be fixed with a simple fuel or air
filter change as well. I would do a basic tune up of spark plugs and
wires which may fouled out it sounds like, oil and filter, air filter,
and fuel filter. I would also change the distributor cap and rotary
button. These few tune up items may help your rough running automobile

My vw passat 2000 wont start sometimes and when it does start and I give it lots of gas the revs seem to drop and it loses power, but if i accelerate slowly it seems ok, also after driving for maybe 10...

sounds like you\'re not getting enough fuel; disconnect the fuel line under the hood and put it into a container and crank the engine or just turn on the ignition for a couple of seconds to activate the fuel pump; it should be pissing like a race horse; if it\'s not, then you have a clogged filter or a weak pump.

1999 honda accord seems like it isn't gettign a steady fuel supply, it keeps sputtering and almost dies but when I pump the gas pedal it revs back up. I just put a new O2 sensor in and it sounds l

First question is - is the check engine light on ?
If yes you should check it for codes next.
You may have to use a scanner to watch the O2 sensor to figure out if it is too lean or too rich. I would also check fuel pressure at the rail with a gauge to make sure pressure is normal. Could be a faulty fuel pressure regulator among other things.

Car wont stay running after it starts, runs around 500rpms then dies out, sometimes wont start. replaced fuel filter, and the main relay fuse. this problem started after replacing my gas tank.

fuel injected cars cannot vapor lock, so not the issue, when they replaced the fuel tank did they replace fuel pump? It should have been, but 2 things come to mind, they pinched wires when putting tank in and it shorts sporadically shutting off pump, look around with light and trace wires looking for any breaks in plastic coating, or fuel pump is failing.

My 1980 toyota p/u starts idles but on the freeway it starts to die if you give it more gas it sounds like not enough fuel is getting to the carb when i let of the gas it seems ok until you start ta go...

i guess it has carbs on that year, which means
1.your main jet is blocked or
2. fuel filter is clogged,
3. fuel pump worn out
4.blocked fuel line
you simply have just enough gas to idle but when you demand more there just is not enough,
