Change plug wires. If you want to check first, drive it into a garage, or wait til dark, and have somebody brake torque it while you watch under the hood for spark jumping.

Motor sounds like a bunch of Indians trying to get out.

sounds to me like you could have damaged the oil pump, running low on oil can cause numerous things to fail.. possibly spun the rod bearings and they are beating on the crank. I wouldn't start it, but if the noise is in the bottom I would drop the oil pan.

Sentra rattle in engine

If this vehicle was driven without oil, the rattle or knock you hear is more than likely a damaged main bearing or rod bearing...sounds like its time for a QUALIFIED PROFESSIONAL to listen to your engine run and give you his opinion... Good Luck!!!

2000 grand cheroke 4.0 knocks loud at idle

You need a trained technician to listen to this, but it sounds like a connecting rod and or a crankshaft main bearing noise. I lean more towards the rod knock form a worn out bearing.

Rattleing and knocking noise in engine when running. Fades in and out.

Sounds like a main or connecting rod bearing is starting to go.Need to be more specific of when and how often it dose this. Also how many miles on engine. If your talking 100,000 or more its definitly a bearing. The more your run this engine (if its a bearing) the more damage your doing.Either way it dosent sound good.If this is a 350 or 305 engine if the oil wasent changed regularly these engines are known for bearing knocks.

Hyundai Balance Shaft Bearing making noise?

Possible. It's hard to give you an accurate cause, since I'm not able
to hear the sound. Most of the time, when you hear a slight wrapping
sound, it's a rod bearing,or crank bearing. When the rod bearing goes,
you'll know it,since it will knock like an SOB.

Motor has a knock in the lower part of motor. The knock is there al the time

hello, sounds like you have bad rod bearing, or rod cap could be wore out, try lucas oil if it does not quiet down then you probably have rod bearing going out, wouldnt drive unless you have too. untill you get checked

Undeterminable engine nosie 2006 Chev express van, 4.8 votec

Yes, it is a mechanical oil pump. Just for peace of mind, you could have the oil pressure checked. A mechanic shop could do it real easy-you remove the oil pressure sensor or sending unit from the engine block and hook up a "mechanical oil pressure gauge", then run the engine with gauge attached and check pressure against the specs for your model- it is a specified pressure at a specified engine rpm. I f oil pressure is within specs, I can't imagine anything else about the pump that could cause that noise. It is a compact unit with a couple of heavy internal gears.

If your mechanic didn't think it was a bearing or rod either, you should be safe there. He would know the sound of a rod bearing or mechanical problem like that, and if it is different from your sound. Beyond that and the oil pump, I just don't have any ideas.
Hope you find it, good luck.
