Question about 1994 Volkswagen Passat
I just purchased a 2001 volkswagen passat with 104,000 kms. the check engine light is on, and an emmission message - when the gas tank is full the light went off, when it goes down slightly the light comes back on and beeps - cost to take it in for checking is $57.00, plus whatever they find is wrong. is this something common, something to do with possibly the gas tank cover? thanks very much - a second car for my kids, so want to be sure it is safe, but not expensive
The emission system on any car sold n the USA is tested and certificated by the EPA to not pollute for 100,000 miles, these systems include the EGR (exhaust gas recirculation) system, the fuel vapor control system, the catalytic converters, the various sensors on the engine such as lambada sensors and engine temp sensors plus many others
