I've been fighting this same problem of "cranks but won't start" (intermittent problem) on a 2003 Kia Sedona van, First you can try swapping around relays under the hood (several are the same value, can put electric windows's relay in the "main relay" spot etc to see if "that fixes it")

For me, that didn't change anything, so I pretty well dialed in it "wasn't" a relay causing my intermittent lack of fire to the plugs / no ignition (but starter would spin). THEN:

I knew the other possibility for intermittent "not sending or allowing spark", no ignition, was a wearing out / failing of the ignition switch itself, the wire to the starter is all fine but the wire saying "have ignition" isn't making contact, SO, I released the "steering wheel adjust up and down" lever and smacked the steering wheel (and ignition switch) assembly up and down pretty roughly for a few seconds, re-tried it, "started right up".

Like smacking a fuse box with a rubber hammer sometimes reveals wires in the back not making connection well (being fixed temporarily by a smack), "this" got my ignition switch out of "not quite making contact with internal connections" mode.

A week ago I had to have the van towed, jumps etc didn't change anything, duh, it was the ignition switch. Try this if you have intermittent "won't fire"! For some reason, it never dies on me once it is running, thankfully.

Try putting on a new crank sensor. On the 2.0 eng it is at the left rear of engine ,the rear of the drivers side.it controls fuel pump and spark

Where is fuse and relay on the fuel pump a 2005 kia sedona and is there a fuel pump restart buttom

Look in the fuse box in the engine bay near the battery for (Right Hand Drive models.) Look on the inside of the cover and you will see a 'map' of all the fuses and relays. Align the map to compare with the arrangement of fuses and relays in the box to make it easier. No fuel pump restart button. This guide is for petrol(gasoline) model.

I have 1986 Alfa Spider that won't start. Car has been sitting for a year. I replaced battery, fuel tank, fuel sender unit, both fuel pumps. I seems that the in tank pumps is not getting any po

Could be the main or fuel run relay located in the compartment under the luggage rack, passenger side, main relay also, fuse for the fuel relay 8amp. Electronic Control Unit is also located there.

Could be electrical, Hook up a timing light, three leads: Power, Ground, and one that goes around the wire to #1 cyl. Turn the engine over and see if there's firing. Note: u can check all 4 spark plugs this way.

Fuse lead goes to pin 30 of the fuel relay, u can jump 30 across to 57 and check for the pumps running, if not, change-I suggest both relays, main and fuel run relays. Both pumps get their 12v DC from the fuel run relay, both should be running when you switch ignition switch to on, then a tachymetric signal is fed from the coil to the relay to keep it running.

Won`t star

Hello Sir:

There are 2 Problems that can prevent your car from starting:

#1) Make Sure your getting Fuel

#2) And Check to see if you are getting Spark to your Spark Plugs,By pulling off 1-Spark Plug wire and take plug out also, Put spark plug back in the Wire. Have someone crank the engine over, and see if theres Spark at the Spark Plug.

#3) If your car is'nt even cranking over, then the problem is in either your Ignition switch, starter relay, starter,or it can be as simple as a relay or Fuse, check in your fuse box inside,to make sure ALL fuses are good.

#4) Then under your hood you should see a plastic Cover Fuse and Relay Block as well, Check these also,Mainly if its labeled Crank,or starter. Also check your Starter relay. they are a Larger componet in the box under your hood.

#5) to check this relay you'll need a OHM meter to check for resistance. also check the EMC Fuses or Relays.

#6) if no fuel check fuel pump fuse and replace fuel filter 1st.

#7) If no Spark make check your Coils.I'm sure if you follow these tests you'll locate your problem.

Check coils (good spark on plugs), cam sensor and crank sensor. Check connections to the above and continuity of wiring.

It could be the computer, but it could also be the wire. You can check the resistance of that wire, or simply use a known good wire to see if that is what it is.

2004 Kia Sedona wont start but i can hear starter.

if the starter is revving very slowly it is the battery, charge battery. if not, It can be three things happing. 1 no spark 2 no fuel 3 no crank signal or the car computer is bad- you will need to unplug one of the spark wires and remove the spark plug and put the spark plug in the spark plug wire boot, and touch the spark plug on any metal on the car and have some start the car. donot touch the spark plug itself and see if there is a spark. if spark is bright, then it is not spark plug and wires but if no or spark is not bright, check the spark plug wires by applying a little bit of water on the spark plug wire and take a 12v test light, connect the clap to ground and and have some one to crank the vehicle, touch allover the spark plug wires with the tip of the test light, if you see spark, replace the wires and change the plugs.. they are not good. if spark is present, check for fuel by removing any one of the spark plugs and see if it is wet. if wet fuel pump is ok but if not go look for the fuel pump fuse and relay. is fuse blown, replace, check the relay resistor with a volt meter. it should be around 40 to 80 ohm. if everything is good from this point check the fuel pump itself by disconnecting the connector to the pump and apply 12v and ground using jumper wires or some wires to the fuel pump if you donot hear the pump, replace pump. if you, the crank signal or computer may be the problem
