Question about 2002 Isuzu Trooper

1 Answer

Car will not go when I access the accelerator

I own a 2003 Isuzu Trooper (automatic); upon acceleration my car will not go anywhere if stopped. I can push the gas pedal all the way to the floor, NOTHING!! Now, if I am at a decent speed (like 10-15 mph) the car seems (NOTE: now this is my own personal assessment w/no experience whatsoever) to automatically kick into second which will then allows me to drive. This all progressed slowly, at first if I was at a red light/stop sign and pushed the accelerator it would take a second or two but would start to move (slowly). Then after awhile it would not go anywhere once I was stopped. Driving got pretty tricky but it now sits and well, I do too!!! Can anyone offer any info.?? Thanks

I don't remember so I will try what info you have given me . I thought it was the transmission (going out) too, this is pretty expensive right? Do you have any advice on where to go or what to do on replacing the transmission other than the expensive alternative? Also, can you replace a transmission with another USED transmission from another car of the same make/model? Thanks again for your time and advice.

google broken today?

omg, its there,

found this info: "The available 4-speed automatic features a winter mode. When it's engaged, the transmission starts out in third gear to prevent wheelspin on icy or snowy surfaces. The transmission also has a power mode that gives better acceleration by raising up-shift points. Both modes are controlled by well-placed pushbuttons in the center console."

all with google or DD in 5 seconds work,,,,,

2002 isuzu trooper looses power on climbing, not responding to acceleration

Is the transmission dropping down to lower gear when climbing ? (automatic only ) Will it accelerate good to pass on level road?
Proper fuel pressure, and possible exhaust restriction, such as partially plugged/plugged catalytic converter, are 2 things I would check as well. All provided engine is also in good shape to begin with.

What is the solution when car cannot accelerate when engage in drive

Automatic or manual trans?
If the engine does not accelerate and just basically stays at a fixed RPM when you push on the gas then it sounds like your catalytic converter is clogged and choking the engine. I had this exact problem on a Isuzu impulse. If the engine races but the car doesn't go anywhere then it's your transmission.
