Question about 1990 Ford Mustang
I recently bought a 1987 mercury cougar and did some modifications to it. I put some headers on it new ignition system new intake gaskets top and bottom and i have put new rod and main bearings in the bottom end. But i still cannot keep it from overheating. I have put an aftermarket electric fan on it replaced the thermostat twice and the water pump once. This all started once i got my a/c charged and started using it here lately. the car never really had a good heater either if that helps. I need your help?
Does the car shut off when it over heats? Did you flush the block out? If the car shuts off when it over heats then its either your after market electric fan is not kicking on or it's not pulling enough air through the radiator to cool it. Also check to make sure you have enough antifreeze in it. One other thing would be if the car does not die out its your temp sensor on the motor is not reading temperature right. Just recheck fluid levels start the car and watch to see if the electric fan kicks on it's something simple. A/C really does not affect temperature that much.
