What engine oil is recommended for a GDI Mitsubishi Galant 1996 MODEL?

My car when idaling, say at the traffic lights threatens to go off when the traffic lights go green. It worse when I switch on the Air conditioner - this actually makes it go off. I am wondering wether this is an Engine oil problem. My exhause pipe - the protruding section is totally black. Please advise

Your problem is more than likely not oil related. Is your engine oil full? The black in the tail pipe is an indicator of excessive fuel, do you have black smoke from tail pipe at idle? Do you have a check engine light on?

Engine oil will not cause a problem like that. Your oil prevents wear of internal moving parts. The problem you have seems like a fuel management problem. Have that checked out.
Any good quality 10w 30 oil will work well in most applications. Keep it full and change at regular intervals.
Fuel problems can cause some excess fuel to contaminate engine oil therefore after you get your problem solved, change the oil as a precaution.

I don't think there is a pump, it is done with engine oil pressure at the injector.

97 Mitsubishi legnum, runs great but takes a bit to start, thought it might be fuel pump relay as you can,t hear pump start when key is turned on, is that normal for legnums.

Hi,
is your car a GDI engine? If it is GDI you can't really hear the pump working when you put ign on.
Give me some details and I might be able to guide you there.
Chassis, engine numbers, GDI ??

Its located in the air filter housing....The volume air flow sensor also incorporates the barometric pressure sensor and the air intake sensor....If you are replacing either of these sensors replace the volume airflow sensor.......
