Belts on car keep breaking, in cold and hot weather

I have two belts on this model and they keep breaking everytime I have replaced them, a total of three times. They broke during the winter and during the summer months. In fact the autoparts place told me this model is suppose to have three belts. BUT we could only find two places for the belts. The last time the belts broke, it looked as if one got too hot and burned/melted down.

Check and make sure that there isn't any accessories binding from bad bearings. Also I have seen bad alternators (not just the bearings in them) but electrically shorted stator lock up and burn up the belts. It will do it intermitently

Check all the pulleys for side play, and for small pieces of belt.if there is a belt tensioner, check it and make sure that it is free to move.on alot of vehicles,it is a bad tensioner that breaks the belts.the tensioner bearing gets hot, seizes up and the belt burns.if your car does not have air conditioning, that is the third belt. get a belt routing diagram if there is not one under the hood.make sure the belts are not overtightened.there hould be about an 1/8 inch deflection in the center of the belt, and a 30 degree twist from side to side.

My car keep on breaks alternator belts and it also makes this loud whistling noise. I've put on a new water pump, 3 alternators and several alternator belts

make sure that the pulleys of all the driven equipment are in alignment and not at a bit of an angle to the axis of the drive belt
To break belts something is not lined up properly or something is not turning freely

What happens if the drive belt breaks

if a drive belt breaks, the debris can interfere with other engine components and do additional damage. rule of thumb belt life is 6yrs or 60000 miles. the belts operate critical engine systems ( alt, water pump, power steering pump) not something to short cut on. belts are noisey when cold due to additional load from battery use when starting or cold fuuids. have belts and tensioners checked for wear and correct operation

My car is a Honda civic 1997 model,i had my upper engine support replaced and the timing belt but after installing it, i can hear a vibration sound everytime i accelerate the gas whiule in trhe neutrral...

I am afraid not. The water from the radiator never goes into the engine. Radiator is just there to keep the engine temperature Normal. That is to say that it keeps in cool because engines get very hot while driving the car. If you take out the water, it would overhead quickly and would eventually halt the engine. As for the vibration from engine, it because the supports of the engine aren't bolted together snuggly. So when you accelerate, the engine vibrates hard and then also shake up the supports and cause noise.

Serpentine belt has some cracks

any cracked belt should be replaced. the timing belt drives the cam shaft while the serpentine drives the power steering pump, alternator, water pump, air conditioner compressor, etc. if it breaks in the middle of nowhere, car will get hot real fast and become very hard to steer as you try and find somewhere to pull over. it will also be in the night and adverse weather. so replace it now when it is convenient.

Over-heating after squealing. could it be a broken alternator bel

Your serpentine belt broke. Don't drive the car until it's replaced. You will totally drain your battery and possibly blow the enging because the coolant isn't being pumped through.

Squeaking sound

It a particular period of time when the temperature changes and gets colder. So during the hot summer weather the belt(s) expanded. And as the weather changed and got colder the belts more likely would have the tendency to slip. There's an adjusting screw to adjust the belt tension. Hope you fix it.
