Holden vectra my clutch pedal is on the ground, and we cnt drive it in any gear. we are trying to locate the clutch fluid or cylinder line where do we find these please on a holden vectra 1997. CD manual.

The clutch master cylinder will be the cylinder next to the brake master cylinder The reservoir may be on to of it or it may be connected to the brake master cylinder as later cars share the reservoir. Follow the line down to the bell housing and you will see the slave cylinder . The bleed nipple is on the top

Sounds like the SLave Cylinder has givin up Possible the Reli=eice Bearing I ALWAYS Replace As A PAIR . If you can put in gear by having someone rock the car front to back and it holds well its pretty Obvious that you DO have A Clutch Master Cylinder or Clutch Slave aat Releice Bearing Problem AGAIN These Parts I REPLACE AS A PAIR. If your not able to shift into any gear that means your clutch is not engage/disengaging. Check for fluid leaks, you said topped off and fluid levels were low? It sounds like you have a Slave cylinder or master cylinder leak, if its leaking its bet to replace both.

Loose or broken slave cylinder mounting. Missing pin or broken part between pedal and master cylinder. If mechanical linkage, look for broken components or missing pins at moving joints. If you tried to shift into gear with engine running, you may have damaged the transmission gears.

The clutch system in your vehicle most likely works very similar to your brake system. In most cases, it may even use brake fluid as its working fluid. If you drive a classic car or truck you may have a mechanical clutch meaning it operates by a system of levers, pivot points and connecting rods to translate the movement of the clutch pedal into movement of your clutch pressure plate releasing the clutch. New cars use hydraulic clutch systems because they are much simpler to install, take up less space and do not require adjustment as your clutch wears down.
If you have replaced the clutch slave or master cylinder, the lines, or simply changed the fluid, you need to do an adequate job removing the air from the system before your clutch will work properly. This procedure is called "bleeding" your clutch system by most mechanics and is important because air in a hydraulic system will cause it to malfunction. As you press the clutch pedal, the master cylinder forces hydraulic fluid, in this case brake fluid, down through the line into the slave cylinder. The pressure of this fluid will cause the slave cylinder to activate, pushing your clutch fork and disengaging your clutch. If there is air in the system, that air bubble can compress. This compressing air bubble will absorb much of the fluid being sent from the master cylinder to the slave cylinder keeping the slave cylinder from actuating as far as it should, or even at all. If the slave cylinder does not travel as far as it should, your clutch will not fully disengage making it difficult to shift your transmission, especially into 1st gear from a stop.
To remove the air from your clutch system you need to push or pull the air down through the fluid line to the bleeder valve on the slave cylinder. To keep things clean you should attach a tube to the nipple on the bleeder valve. If you use a clear tube it can be easy to see when all the air has exited the system. The easiest way to bleed the clutch is to use a vacuum pump to pull the fluid and air out of the system while keeping the clutch fluid reservoir topped off. Continue pumping fluid from the bleeder valve until you no longer see air bubbles in the fluid. If you do not have a vacuum pump, you can do this manually with a friend.
With the bleeder valve closed, have your helper depress the clutch pedal as far as they can. Open the bleeder valve and allow the fluid to run out until it slows down, while your friend maintains pressure on the clutch pedal. When the fluid flow slows, while your Helper still has pressure on the clutch pedal, close the bleeder valve. Let the clutch pedal back up and repeat the process. Continue this process until no more air bubbles are seen exiting the bleeder valve. Your helper should feel the pedal (stiffen up) as you complete this process as air is easier to compress than the clutch plate release springs.
When you have completed this procedure make sure the bleeder valve is tightly closed, and go for a test drive!

That does not seem quite right. The slave cylinder "piston," while it extends to declutch with pedal compression, it would return under spring pressure for clutch application as pedal is released...essentially reversing fluid flow and recharging the foot cylinder. Slave cylinder leakage during clutching should "show" as sluggish/irregular clutching response noticable by irregular/difficult/clashing shifts..that and probable noticeable leakage from the bell housing in addition to too-high or too-low fluid level in the reserve bottle on the firewall. As for location of slave cylinder, the significant advantage of hydraulic over cable-&-release-bearing clutch actuation is that there is no use of leverage with hydraulic but, instead, centralized force applied to the clutch plate by a slave cylinder though the center of which runs the crank shaft on its way to the gear box. Please re-post with more complete details as to driveablity/shiftability factors and fluid checks, top-off frequencies, and the like. Essentially, the only way to fault isolate a slave cylinder is by elimination of all other faults and leak sources; or by tear down and inspection. If the latter, you should consider complete clutch rebuild and pilot bearing for all the trouble you will inccur, depending on existing clutch age and wear and tear factors (such as driver skill level). Sorry could not offer a more definitive answer at this point.

How do you remove the Holden VE clutch fluid restrictor for faster gear changes ?

Is that really Holden\'s fix for synchro? Go online to an owners forum and see what they say. Its a new one on me. Google Holden SSV synchro and see what pops up?

Ford transit 52 plate clutch pedal goes soft then csnt change gear then pump pedal pedal goes back to normal drive for a short while then clutch pedal goes soft again and just repeats as above just bought...

The clutch hydraulic system has a problem-either the clutch master cylinder or the slave cylinder on the bell housing may be at fault.

If the brake fluid is low in the clutch master cylinder reservoir, there may be a leak to the outside. Refill and check for leaks while someone pumps the clutch pedal. Check around the clutch master cylinder (also under the dash- if wet there around the top of the clutch pedal or if wet on the carpet below the pedal, the master cylinder is leaking.) Check the single line from the clutch master to the bell housing where the slave cylinder is. If no leaks found, likely the clutch master cylinder or the slave cylinder has failed internally.

Is it safe: there won't be any further damage caused by running it, but if shifting gets harder and harder to do, that may cause a driveability problem.

I have a 2003 holden barina. The clutch has given way and I now can't get it into gear. The clutch pedal does not come back up after pushing it down. Can anyone tell me where the oil resivour is there

The oil reservoir should be located on the firewall underneath the good. It looks like a master cylinder where you pour your brake fluid into. If you follow the rod from the back of your clutch, it leads directly to the slave cylinder. it more than likely is the slave cylinder and not the clutch if the pedal is not releasing.

Clutch fluid leak

the 900 uses the same reservoir for both brake and clutch; it's in front of the firewall on the side of the pedals, immediately visible when you open the hood. Milky plastic, with a screw top; max and min levels marked by lines.

clutch leaks can be at the slave cylinder in the clutch, which will likely cause slipping clutch; at the master cylinder, which may show as fluid inside the car; or in line between them (runs from master cylinder at firewall to front of engine, where the clutch is located).

Look for leaks on ground and relate to location above leak in engine bay
