Question about 2007 Hyundai Sonata Limited Sedan

Data link issue no data

I have modus ultra and when I plug it in to the car It has power and ground but no communication.I checked all the fuse I could find and no issues.Any suggestions.?

some alternators need battery voltage to stay running and after killing a battery if may not recover and you will need to replace it then i would check the fuses its posible that when first jumped the cable where on backwards

2001 Buick power to anything forward of the windshield. winshield back is ok.all fuses are good. scanning tool is blank??? has only 71k miles on it. prior to going blank showed C1242

I think I may have the answer for you!
When cars are assembled at the factory, they start off with the metal body, already painted.
One of the first steps is to add the various wiring harnesses.
(Your car likely has about a total of 15 or 20 separate harnesses.) There is a main one that goes from the firewall below the windshield to the front of the car, it is plugged in to another one that goes from the firewall to the fuse box/circuit breaker box under the dashboard.
I suspect you car to have been in a serious collision that caused the plug to come loose from it's socket in the firewall. Or, a body shop could have removed and replaced that harness if the wires were smashed or broken in a fender bender.
Anyway, suspect a loose plug or two where the harnesses attach at the firewall.

2001 buick century stalled without warning. tried to restart, but wouldnt crank, no fuel pump noise, no click. had power to radio, heater fan, flashers but not dashboard lights (prndl, fuel gauge).

Make sure battery has a full charge and battery connections all good. Check fusible links where applicable. Any component that doesn't work and is fuse protected, not only check the fuse, check the fuse circuit for voltage, use a test lite.
The wiring diagram is for starter circuit, you can see the fuses. Any testing for starter motor, make sure tranny is in park or neutral and parking brake is set. It is possible to jump crank relay to see if starter motor will crank, but, that doesn't mean it will start. Make sure vehicle can't move.

Did you change any modules on the vehicle ?
B2900 VIN Mismatched ABS Module VERIFY that the module has the correct as-built data.
CHECK for correct powertrain control module (PCM) and ABS module configuration using the diagnostic tool. RECONFIGURE the component as necessary. FOLLOW the diagnostic tool directions for the ABS module configuration or REFER to Section 303-01A or Section 303-01B for the PCM. CLEAR the DTC. REPEAT the C1805 Mismatched PCM and/or ABS/TC Module ABS Module CHECK for correct PCM and ABS module configuration using the diagnostic tool. RECONFIGURE the component as necessary. FOLLOW the diagnostic tool directions for the ABS module configuration or REFER to Section 303-01A or Section 303-01B for the PCM. CLEAR the DTC. REPEAT the self-test. U1041 SCP (J1850) Invalid Or Missing Data For Vehicle Speed Instrument Cluster REFER to Section 413-01 . U1041 SCP (J1850) Invalid Or Missing Data For Vehicle Speed Tire Pressure Monitoring System Module REFER to Section 204-04 . You need to take it to the dealer , not a transmission shop. Your vehicle could have a ground issue , could have power issue , could have a control module issue . It needs to be hooked up to the factory scan tool ! It is for sure it has a communication problem on the SCP data bus , do you know what serial data communication is ?
The vehicle has 3 module communication networks:
  • the standard corporate protocol (SCP) communications network
  • the international standards organization (ISO) 9141 communications network
  • the universal asynchronous receiver-transmitter (UART) based protocol (UBP) communications network
The diagnostic tool connects to all 3 networks through the data link connector (DLC). This makes diagnosis and testing of these systems easier by allowing one diagnostic tester to be able to diagnose and control any module on the 3 networks from one connector. The DLC can be found under the instrument panel between the steering column and the radio.
The SCP communications network will remain operational even with the severing of one of the bus wires. Communications will also continue if one of the bus wires is shorted to ground or voltage, or if some but not all termination resistors are lost. The SCP communications network allows inter-module communication.
The ISO 9141 communications network does not permit intermodule communication. When the diagnostic tool communicates to modules on the ISO 9141 communication network, the diagnostic tool must request all information, or initiate module commands.
The ISO 9141 communications network will not function if the wire is shorted to ground or battery voltage. Also, if one of the modules on the ISO 9141 communications network loses power or shorts internally, communications to that module will fail.
The UBP communications network will not function if the wire is shorted to ground or voltage. The UBP is different from the ISO communication network in that it allows intermodule communication.

No communication with pcm on 95 buick lesabre 3.8 have replaced pcm checked powers and grounds any ideas would be appreciated

What did you replace with used or new pcm ? has to be programed . Important:: Replacement PCM must be programmed. Refer to Powertrain Control Module Replacement/Programming
In 95 they used UART serial data pin 9 at DLC a tan wire.No class two yet.

Intermittent starting issue

If any aftermarket devices were installed and used these wires for power or ground can cause these issue.these wires are the main communication center for the whole car very hard to repair without specialty tools Dealer repair.

97 buick century has no data from OBD2 scanner.

The protocol is class 2 . Maybe your code reader is no good .

Data Link Connector (DLC)
The data link connector (DLC) contains the following serial data links:
• Class II
• Entertainment and Comfort (E&C)
The DLC also provides a power source for the scan tool as follows:
• Unswitched voltage (B+) at DLC terminal 16 (circuit 1450)
• Ground at terminal 4 (circuit 1450) and terminal 5 (circuit 1550)

Class II Serial Data Link
The class II serial data link allows the following modules to communicate data with each other:
• Body control module (BCM)
• Electronic brake traction control module (EBTCM)
• Heater-A/C control (if equipped with RPO CJ2)
• Instrument panel cluster (IPC)
• Powertrain control module (PCM)
• Inflatable Restraint Sensing and Diagnostic Module (SDM).
The Class II serial data link allows a Scan Tool scan tool to communicate with the above modules for diagnostic and testing purposes. The Class II serial data link is located at the DLC connector terminal 2. Terminal 2 consists of the following circuits:

1996 Chevrolet pickup when you hook up the scanner I have no communication with the computer. Any ideas?

Test the connector to see if 12 volts is present at the #16 pin (see plug diagram below) if no power it will not power up the scan tool. If no power check the owners manual for a fuse marked DLC (data link connector) plug power.

No communication through obd connector how do i fix it?

The first thing you should do is verify if the problem is with the vehicle or the code reader. Try another code reader to see if it also will not communicate. If non-communications persist then do this:

Check for a blown 10 Amp fuse in cavity 11 of the junction block
Check the 40 Amp fuse located in cavity 5 of the Power Distribution Center (PDC)
Check the case ground attached to the rear of the radio
Check the 10 Amp Ignition Off Draw (IOD) fuse located in cavity 10 of the Power Distribution Center (PDC)

If this all checks out good, then you will have to verify all power and ground circuits AT the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) connector and verify continuity on the wires between the data link connector and the PCM. If it comes down to this, post a reply to this solution and let me know. I can provide step-by-step instructions and wiring diagrams necessary to accomplish this.
