Question about 1992 Toyota 4Runner

1 Answer

92 4runner has no acceleration until it passes 3000 rpms

My 92 4runner is very sluggish in low rpms. Once it hits 3200-3500 rpms it runs great with ample acceleration. I recently replaced the air intake manifold gasket and a stripped screw that holds the manifold on tight, and it fixed the problem for a couple days. I just took it on a road trip and after being on the highway for a couple hours and after that the idol is at 1500 rpms. Before the road trip it idoled normally. Don't know what I should be checking for. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

My 1997 Jimmy runs fine in idle when I take off the vechile is fine until it reaches 20 mph it won't accelerate and the rpms increase up to 3000 but no speed. What's wrong it's a 4 wheel d

Sounds like 2nd gear in the transmission is slipping. Cars usually shift at 15-20 mph from first to 2nd. First check the trans fluid.

My 1996 Saturn SL1 runs very sluggish w/A/C on

idle is too low you see the problem with saturn sl1 is its a single cam engine that puts out only 100hp and when you get into low idling such as 800 rpms where it should be idling at when you hit the a/c the rpms drop a good 150 so turn the idle up more or is it during driving conditions?

Fuel-consumption

Drive slower and easier. about 1 or 2 BELOW THE SPEED LIMIT DON'T PASS ANYONE . When you accelerate accelerate nice and easy watch the tachometer try to keep it below 3000 rpm all the way up to your cruise speed nice and easy don't worry about the guy behind you . Brake easy if you are coming to a light take your foot off and coast and try to time the light so its green when you get there. then EASY EASY on the gas keep it under 3000 RPMS all the time you are accelerating.
No special oil no special spark plugs or fancy air filters just factory parts whren you tune up every 3 or 4 years and change your oil about every 3 or 4 years yes 3 or 4 years it wont hurt it a bit just remember to always check the oil and add if it gets 1/2 Qt low. change the fuel filter EVERY EVERY 15,000 MILES fuel injection professional pressure cleaning once a year Air filter when it is dirty, please dont believe all those gimicks out there I have a car we change the oil about every 4 years and it has 350,000 miles no engine work yet runs every day passes emsssions every year no repairs needed fuel filters once a year or 15,000 miles
