Why does my car turn off while in motion? I've also noticed that it does it when gas is low.

P0700 Transmission Control System Malfunction OBD-II Trouble Code Technical Description Article by Dale Toalston ASE Certified Technician Transmission Control System TCS Malfunction What does that mean? Many vehicles have a control module for the automatic transmission called a transmission control module (TCM). The engine control module (ECM) communicates with the TCM to monitor the automatic transmission for faults. If the TCM detects a fault in the automatic transmission and sets a transmission related fault code, the ECM is informed of this also and sets a P0700 in the ECM memory. This illuminates the Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) to let the driver know there is a problem. If this code is present and the MIL (Malfunction Indicator Lamp) is illuminated that basically means there is at least one transmission code set in the TCM's memory. P0700 is an informational code only. It doesn't point to a direct fault in the engine, only a general fault in the transmission. More diagnosis is necessary to identify what the transmission fault is. This requires a scan tool that will communicate with the transmission module. Symptoms Symptoms of a P0700 DTC may include: Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) illumination The transmission may exhibit drivability problems like slipping, etc. Causes More often then not, the cause of this code is that there is a transmission problem of some kind. The TCM detected the problem and set a code. P0700 means that a fault code is stored in the TCM. However this doesn't rule out the possibility of a failed PCM or TCM (unlikely). Possible Solutions For a P0700 the only real solution is to acquire a scan tool that will communicate with the transmission control module. Extracting this code from the TCM will be the first step in repairing the fault in the transmission. If the TCM compatible scan tool will not communicate with the Transmission Control Module then that is a good indication that there may be a fault with the TCM itself. 07 Aveo error codes p2110 and p161b. Can this be a bad battery?

code p2110 refers to throttle actuator control (TAC) system-forced limited rpm mode (limp mode)===causes wiring--tac motor- APP sensor--ECM
it also refers to heated oxygen sensor(HO2S) 1 bank 1 implausible signal===causes wiring .--short to positive-- short to ground--HO2S sensor---ECM
Check/replace the HO2S sensor and check the APP sensor and TAC motor.

WHAT IS CODE P161B

2009, what engine there, and transmission?>
gas engine, or diesel and what size engine,?
in what country? must i guess, that too?

p161b
P means power train.
1xxx are factory codes, 0xxx are fed standard codes.
so that means, only jeep books are accurate here.

where did you see that, (in the cluster) ???????????
or someone scan tool> or someone yelled it over shoulders, and said it wrong./????????????
was it really? and 8? or b? (kinda matters, no?) accurate inputs.
P1618-SENSOR REFERENCE VOLTAGE 1 CIRCUIT ERRATIC
P161b ( see how easy it is to get the code wrong)?

rumor has it as
P161B: Battery disconnect/TCM internal.

clean the battery terminals,
or battery weak, voltage not 12.6vdc rested
or alternator dead, and not charging battery.

to find it, login to Mitchell.
and see all codes

or you disconnected the battery while key was on?
or failed to clear all DTC first
then see if the code comes bacK>?

Check your transmission output shaft speed sensor. First check that the connector is clean, free of corrosion, secured firmly and that wires have good insulation. If all looks well at this point then disconnect the speed sensor, remove it and clean its tip of any debris and see if this clears the DTC. If not change the sensor for a new one (less than $30). This should fix it.

Check engine light on with code P0700

all code P0700 means is the Transmission control module has detected a problem in the electronic transmission controls or sensors and has asked the Powertrain contreol module to turn on the Check engine light, u need to have the Trans control module tested for trouble codes, u can't do this without a dealer scan tool.

Car is still drivable, but code P0700 is coming up... is this repairable??

The p0700 is a generic code for a transmission issue. If there is a Auto Zone around your area, have the car scanned for any DTC codes since it's free of charger there. Check the transmission fluid level after going for a drive to warm it up. Make sure that the transmission fluid is not low and that it's not burnt. If your due for a transmission service, take it to a transmission shop to have the transmission fluid and filter changed. Ask them to hook up the tech 2 scanner on the car to look for any DTC codes that indicates why the P0700 was triggered. Good luck and hope this helps, most transmission shop will scan for free of charger if your getting the transmission serviced there. Keep me posted, be glad to help.
