Yes the 3.8 litre was used in both, the 4th generation camaros and it's cousin the firebird, through 2002.

I need to know if the transmission from a 1998-2002 pontiac firebird transam will bolt on and work on my 1995 pontiac firebird trans am?

You have to know the motor bell housing bolt pattern

Even if it bolts up, it won't work

1995 is OBD1 & 1996 on is OBD 2

I would never replace one failed trans with another used one,
that won't work,it will just slip or fail & be of no use to you

Pull your trans & take to a trans shop

That is called an over the counter & your get a good price to
rebuild it,maybe even wholesale ,since they don't have to R&R
the trans or diagnose anything

Oil type for my 2002 firebird

You can use 5w30 - 5w20 - or 10w30 depending on the air temp and your mileage.
Low mileage engines can use the lower weight. Hot weather or high mileage engines can use the higher weight.

2002 Pontiac Firebird acts like it ran out of gas and now won't even start. Could it be fuel pump or something else. Service engine soon light also comes on occasionally due to emmisions sensor fr

with the key on engine off listen to fuel pump,if you can not hear the pump winning ,the pump is bad

if you can hear it,it might be working but create enough pressure
you can rent a fuel pressure gauge from auto store and check the fuel pressure

My 2002 firebird with a 3.8L engine is registering a P0405 code. I have done enough research to know that this is due to a faulty EGR value. I located it near the throttle body and is incredibly easy to...

They are pretty easy to do. Remove the two bolts and the old one will come right off. Clean of the gasket materiel left behind, install a new gasket and install the new valve.

I have a 2002 pontiac firebird v-6 3800. The heater hoses run into a part that is attached to the motor. I am trying to find the name of the part so I can replace it or find an engine diagram for that...

Paul, if you mean "radiator hose" then the part is the thermostat housing.

Perhaps the part is the bypass valve, which causes the heated water to "bypass" the heater core if the core is restricted.

My 2002 firebird will shift into gear with engine off but not with engine on.

Check your clutch hydraulic system for leaks and master cylinder bypass problems. If OK, likely the clutch is worn. You didn't note slipping so likely it's in the hydraulics.

Valve cover gasket

valve cover gaskets are in expensive, like 20 bucks, a books that can tell you how to do it would be 25-50 and you will be able to use the book for other things.. there are usually a few long bolts going straight through your valve cover, jus take them off remove the old gasket and put new one in put them back in.. however tightening the valve cover bolts will be the only tricky part.. you may need a torque wrench and have to refer to the book to know exatly how tight they should be.. but as a rule of thumb 80-90 ft-lb of tork is usually used.. be careful when doing this cuz if you put the wrong torque on it will bend your valve covers or posibbly not seal correctly
