Question about 1999 Volvo S80
The key goes into the ignition with no issue, then when I attempt to turn it, the key revolves 360 degrees forward with no ignition catch, however, it does not turn backward, indicating that it isn't completely shot.

OK, I would definitely focus in the area of the left ball joint and/or strut. It could also be some other worn suspension component. Try turning the wheel backing up and applying brakes suddenly. Does popping occur. Stop and go forward same way and apply brakes popping will likely occur again. I would recommend fixing ASAP. When the ball joint fails, the whole wheel comes off and can cause a lot more damage. If you confirm that it is ball joint, I would recommend you get other one checked as well.

This is the problem with the ignition switch.
The lock cylinder into which the key is inserted, and the electronic switch that sits just behind the lock cylinder are not in proper alignment with each other.
Probably before you plan to replace the switch you can take the switch of and put it back in, many a times that will fix the alignment issue.

thats because your regular key probably has an electic connection to the car so go to your volvo dealer and they should be able to clear anything up or replace it with a key that will work

SOURCE: how do you turn off
According to the manual, that warning light will illuminate if a fault is detected. Normally, the SRS warning lamp should light up when the ignition key is turned to positions I, II or III and should
go out after 7 seconds or when the engine is started.
· If the SRS (Supplemental Restraint System) warning light stays on after the engine has started or if it comes on while you are driving,
drive the car to the nearest authorized Volvo retailer for inspection as soon as possible.
Hope this helps.

I think there is a fuse for that in your fuse panel. check your owners manual for the location of the fuses and I think it may be burnt out. Cheap fix if so :)
