Leaking rad fluid


Could be the water pump. There is usually a weep hole on under side of the pump. When they go bad sometimes they leak out the weep hole.

I have a 2002 alero an i replaced my reservior an i dont not where this one hose go its on the reservior ...someone helpnme i have work in the mornin


sorry no idea iam a europeon mechanic whos never seen this car ,but the resevoir pipes are normally a inch or so pipe to the engine and a smaller one for the bleed off on the radiator ,then the one from where the rad cap goes and this goes to the expansion bottle as its not a pressure pipe .hope this helps but i just do not know anymore about this vehicle .

Can a worn coolant reservoir cap cause a 2002 Cadillac to run hot?


I would check to see if the hose has fallen off the reservior container, if this occurs the
engine will vent coolant and get an air pocket and run hot. (This happened recently on
my S-10 pickup) The hose had fallen behind the battery and did not appear out of place.
I would also suspect the thermostat sticking as a secondary culprit if no air pocket exists
in the engine block. The reservior tank holds liquid to be drawn back into the engine as
it heats up and cools down and should never be completely empty. Hope this is helpful.

My son's 2006 impala is overheating, but the reservior is full and rad is empty. He is not puddleing under car, but it looks like blow back, Do these cars have a thermostat or I think it is the water pump....


check the rad cap as it should **** the water back in and if the cap is faulty then it will not draw the water back in ,also check the rad when its running as i am haveing problems with water pumps that have a plastic impeller on a metal drive shaft and they come loose on teh drive shaft so the water doesnt circulate

I have a 94 accord, and the reservior is empty.


The fluid should be between the MIN and MAX marks on the side of the reservoir. DOT3 or DOT4.
Are you having a problem finding the reservoir? The filler cap? I believe that the reservoir is close to where the driver’s front fender meets the grill. The cap is on top. And the MIN MAX fill lines are at the front (at least that’s where it is on a 92).
By the way, if you ABS (ALB) light is coming on, that indicates that there is an electrical or hydraulic problem with the system, but if anything is wrong with the ABS it will automatically shut down and your regular brakes will function as they always do. The reason I point this out is that I’m not exactly sure what the problem is that you are having. Additionally, if you reservoir is entirely empty, you will probably have to have the system bled in order to get rid of any air that has gotten into it. And, of course, you would want to know where that brake fluid went. If I’m not understanding your problem, post a comment.

I have a 1992 cadillac deville.i have a problem with the water going from radiator to the water reservior after it driven for awhile.what could the problem be?


This is normall oppertion, as the coolant heats up it expands just like water in a pot on the stove will boil over, hence the reson for the tank to catch it and return it to the radiator as it cools down. Now, if your coolant is not being returned to the radiator when it cools down you will most likely need a new rad cap.

Flush rad & change coolant & thermostat. Check operation of rad fan, & make sure it is coming on when engine reaches normal operating temperature. Be sure to bleed air out good when refilling rad/cooling system. Start engine & turn heater on when refilling & let rad fan come on & off at least 2 or 3 times before putting cap back on rad, and refill rad as needed as you do this. then fill return bottle to proper level & see what happens.

This is in conection with my previous question. how many kilometers, anyway, would a water reserve empties or reaches its minimal level? thank you very much!


The coolant system is a closed system. When the system is full the reservior acts as an expansion container. When the engine heats the coolant expands. The coolant expands into the reservior when the pressure cap releases. As the engine cools the coolant contracts and the radiator cap allows the coolant to flow back into the engine. If you are having coolant loss it should show as an external leak If there is no external leak it could be possible to have an internal leak. In theory this system should not lose anything but coolant loss on a small basis is expected. If your coolant loss is great and it is not seen externally I suggest that a pressure test involving engine components be done. I hope this can help Moe

Heating and over heating


if you smelled rad fluid then chances are you have a leak, you didnt say if you had to top it up at all, low fluid level will cause loss of heat, and the overheat prob sounds like thermastat replacement time, i would start with the thermastat

In car Heating


When engine is cold, remove rad cap & have a look at coolant level, as well as your return bottle. If you have to add to your rad level, make sure you have engine running & the heater on (not defrost) when your adding, and let engine get up to normal operating temperature & let rad fan come on & off 2 or 3 times before you top up last time & then put rad cap back on. If coolant is low in rad & return bottle has lots in it, you may want to replace rad cap in case it's faulty.
