4wd was left engaged put brakes on front went to disengsage 4wd it wont disengage???

If transfer case won't disengage from four-wheel drive? Back up slowly, maybe as far as 100 yards. What you're trying to do is relieve the tension buildup by running the drivetrain in the opposite direction

4wd front hub wont disengage

Possible the vacuum bleed-off to the switch you installed isn't allowing it to completely disengage. Pull the bleed-off line from the new switch and see if it works. could be just a tight spot/bent closed in the bleed-off line or the vent plugged.

4WD LO will not disengage what can cause this.

@ 2000 gmc: Exactly right.

asker: Also, it helps if you're rolling at about 2 mph with the steering wheels straight.
You cannot shift into 4LO with the wheels turned or when in a drive
gear. Also, it may be that you need the electric shift unit serviced.
It is not recommended to drive on dry pavement while in 4LO.

I can't figure out how to disengage the 4wd on my 92 jimmy. I got the car from a relative and had no owners manual. any help?

I too had similar problem with my Suzuki Gypsy MPV. I was then told to disengage the 4WD while in motion. I was trying to disengage it in stationary vehicle. Are you too. then move the vehicle and disengage while in slow motion.

1998 ford expedition 4x4 not working transfercase works

Today I fixed the vacuum lines to the front differential (nee transaxle). I had trouble finding parts in the local auto store that would do the trick - but I got something cobbled together. Based on my experience, I can go back to the store and get the right parts for a proper fit.

As of now, 4WD will engage but will not disengage - clearly one of the connections is still poor, or I accidentally switched the ports, or the vacuum shift motor (attached to the front differential) is shot (obviously from abuse).

As near as I can tell, once I switch into 4WD-HI, it will not shut off. 4WD-LO will engage and disengage properly. If I turn the car off for a while, a couple of times 4WD has disengaged. Hmmm...

sounds like the seals are gone on the 4wd shaft, it takes oil pressure to keep the 4wd off, but if the seals are worn the all passes through and the 4wd will not dissingage, you will need a experianced michanic
