Speedometer not working

I recently replaced my fuel pump and fuel filter, now my speedometer is not working. All other gauges and lights around it are working, but the speedometer no longer moves. Also, I can no longer get my dash to display my instantaneous and average MPH. What should I do?

Run fault codes and look for a speed sensor problem . If the speedo is not reading then any other items requiring a computation of speed/ distance will not work either.

Blown Fuse or fried Circuit board. Take to a local AutoZone, Advance, Murray's, O'reillys or a similar part house for them to check the wiring. I'm assuming the van does not use a mechanical Speedometer or Fuel Gauge.

On the plus side, with no speedometer, your indicated odometer mileage does not increase. Just keep your speed down and your tank full. Kidding, just kidding.

check the fuses in your manual it will tell you which fuses are for the dash and replace them it sounds to me like they are blown! good luck

How do I fix my gauges? (Ie, gas gauge, temp gauge, speedometer, odometer)

Fuses? Blown fusible link? Most gauges work by getting 12 volts from the ignition switch when on, and getting a ground from the sender. Often the 12 volt supply wire goes to more than one so if dead, both will fail. If you have a wiring diagram, you might find which wire to cluster should be hot, and trace it backward to find the issue. Easier to check for ignition switch feed first.

Replaced fule pump, starts then dies

Check tank for anything that could be causing fuel to not reach fuel pump such as dirt or debris also old parts off of old fuel pump like one time I found an o-ring off old pump floating around and it would randomly get stuck in new pump and cause aloss of fuel pressure. also replace your fuel filter just for GP. Last if none of that works you can check for fuel at the fuel rail with a pressure gauge and check injectors with a noid light. hope it is something simple and this helps

Dash gauges to include fuel gauge, speedometer, rpm gauge working intermittanly. All service lights work

GM had gauge cluster problems from 2000-2005. Bad stepper motors. On those units you have to replace the cluster or rebuild it with new stepper motors. Dealership can fix for around $150.00

it's your sencer or relay if it was just your gauge it could be your float is stuck on your fuel pump and speedometer could be the cable needs to be adjusted or replaced

I have a 2005 Malibu V6 LS. Whenever I fill the tank with fuel(completely full) the engine light comes on and stays on for a couple of days. This causes problems with my remote starter - it doesn't work...

your car has a fuel level sensor on the fuel pump which is in the gas tank that is going bad this makes your engine light come on also makes your gas gauge read faulty, I think you can buy the fuel level sensor seperate from the fuel pump but i am not for sure my wifes car does the same thing i just havent got around to fixing it yet but when i do i will repost and et you know.

Engine starts and then immediately dies. I flood it with gas, it will start, spudder and then die. if no gas is given, the engine dies immediately.

It sounds like either you have a fuel pump problem, or possibly your security system is not recognizing your key properly and engaging injector cut mode. If the vehicle has a SECURITY light, it should be flashing when you open the door and or insert the key, when you trun the key, the light should go out and stay out if the key is recognized. If the light continues flashing, your fuel injectors are not being activated because THEFT is suspected. The quickest fix would be see if you have the original spare key from the dealer (black plastic covered factory key) and try your spare. Frequently, a key gets old and fails but the spare will still work fine. If the spare works, you can purchase a new master key and then program it yourself to replace the defective key. If not, you need to determine if THEFT mode is in fact active, or if the fuel pump has failed or some other fuel problem is occurring. Both key failures and fuel pump failures cause symptoms like yours, and are common enough problems to be suspect.

It really sounds to me you have a grounding issue with the pump and sending unit.
If the gauge is indicating a past full reading, the ground is open. An open or poor ground will also cause the weak fuel pump pressure.
Find the black wire at the fuel pump connection and measure resistance to ground, should read near 0.00 ohms.
