Question about 1998 Honda Accord

1 Answer

Trouble Accelerating Car jerks while driving. Sporadically loses power and won't accelerate, especially going up hill. Loud rattling and winding noise from belts near waterpump. Sounds like a loud fan with lose bolts.

Could be a few things
1: clogged fuel filter
2: the car needs a tune up IE plugs wires cap and rotor and check the timing.
3Dirty throtle body and dirty air filter
Do you have an SES or check engine light on?

SOURCE: no power up hills

If you had a bad mass air sensor, it should register a fault code. Ditto for oxygen sensors. I'd change the fuel filter for sure, as well as spark plugs (make sure they're gapped correctly), and run a bottle of Seafoam through the gas tank. If that doesn't do it, change your cap, rotor, and spark wires (all told you're under $100 for everything).

You must replace the distributor cap and rotor button- easy fix. Do not mix wires up. Message me I will guide you through it. definitely know my stuff here.

I have a rumbling noise in the front end of a 2006 Yukon Denali. it only does it when accelerating. what is the fix?

Can be many things. Check the cv joints first- will make sharp clicking noise especially when turning. Wheel bearing but it will be all the time and noise will increase with speed. Control arm bushes - shudder and noise when accelerating or when driving on road with an slight incline (up hill). If nothing obvious found take the car to an suspension specialist for evaluation and quote.

Prado jerking while going up hill or jerking when accelerating

Hi,
When was the last tune-up done? Should be done every 30-45KM, or depending on what your owner's manual maintenance book states.
1. Spark plugs
2. Spark plug wires
3. Fuel Filter
4. Air filter
5. Oxygen Sensor

If these have recently been replaced then do you have Check Engine Light (CEL)? If so, you'll need to get that checked by a mechanic.

best advice is dont go 40mph in 5th gear... if you are going up a hill at 40mph in 5th gear i have no doubt that it is jerking, your putting too much stress on the engine. shift up to 4th or 3rd you will be fine. 5th gear is an overdrive gear. 55+mph

its probably your bump stops. the vw ones are very soft. i bought ford escort (the shape after the xr3) ones and cut them a little down to fit. i think the noise is either your shock touching or the sound of the tire scraping the body of the car. hope this helps.
