Civic 06 vti using excesive amount of fuel

The computer will very likely be generating engine fault codes if you have quite excessive consumption and there is no point in guessing what the problem is as there can be numerous causes. You have not mentioned if you have a check engine light showing but if you don't just yet you soon will if the problem persists.

1. Go to a reputable mechanic and have the car scanned for fault codes because it will be very likely throwing some codes if you are having a high engine fuel consumption issue (as opposed to a loss of fuel from the fuel system due to an external fuel leak).

2. On thing you can do yourself is remove the old dusty air filter element in the air intake box ( which no doubt has not been changed since ????) and put in a new OEM air filter unit. A dirty clogged unit will cause your engine to run poorly.

Does fuel pipes size affect consumption on big enegines like v6 3000i colt

no
fuel line size will not affect fuel consumption
the major item that has an affect on consumption is the fuel pressure in the fuel manifold for the injectors
next is the heated and normal oxygen sensors because if they are out of parameters the ECM will pour the fuel through the engine
next is a blocked cat converter
best advice is to run the fault codes to find out what is happening

fuel consumption of a vehicle is a hard question to answer as there are many variables all of which affect fuel consumption
run the fault codes to check electronics. check cat converter for failure and blocking the exhaust. talk with a service dealer centre and find out what the manufacturer recommended as an economy for the vehicle.
check the injectors as the tips may need attention.
check the turbo variable vanes are operational.
