This is what you are looking for. I've got a similar problem and need to get my blower motor resistor out. I've found the resistor, but it has no bolts holding it in. It has what looks like torx or something similar, but nothing will fit. In fact, they look like they are plastic and possibly stripped out. If you have any luck let me know how you got it out.

Hi revove the hush pannel under the glove box
Then under the dash you will see the blower motor
the wires that plug into the blower motor follow them and you will see the resistor (other side of the blower motor close to the firewall)
it is very tight so you may want to remove the blower motor to have more room
there are 3 (5.5mm) bolts to remove the resistor
replace the resistor and reassemble
sorry no picture hope this helps

2004 crown vic. only 63K miles on her. AC/heat fan was sporadically working, now its done. AC was nice and cold, working fine. Is the fan a hard replacement if I were to find one at a parts yard?

Try to check the power and ground on the blower fan. If you missing the ground on the blower fan connector than most likely it is the blower fan resistor (controller), it is located under the hood close to back firewall behind left cylinder head.

The blower motor stops every where, when u shut it off, motor only works on high speed

You probaly have a bad switch or resisitor.Google your car and blower resistor and you should be able to know where it is and then replace it. If that doesn't work, then your switch is bad.

Need to know where the fan motor and resistor is located on the 2003 Ford Focus. Car overheats while idling, driving, in park, and it'll still overheat when the heater is on. Tell me what site I can find...

Cars usually overheat when the thermostat is faulty, coolant level is low, or the water pump fails. If your cooling fan on the radiator does not kick on shortly after the engine reaches operating temperature, you may have a bad cooling fan, cooling fan relay, or cooling fan fuse. If your engine is overheating, start by checking the fluid level, and installing a new thermostat.

A blower motor resistor is the device that controls a car's cabin heating and air conditioning unit's fan speeds. This usually won't cause the engine to overheat, your A/C fan may not function or only function at one speed. Fan blower only works on high speed (4) not on any lower speeds

this is caused by the blower resistor as you correctly diagnosed, but the new resistor is blown because the fan motor is drawing to much current and blowing the resistor back out, replace the blower motor and resistor again.

Blower motor or resistor?

If it was the motor that went out then it would not blow at all. The resistor is the culprit that starts killing off speeds. It should be about $25 to $30 at an aftermarket store like autozone or advanced auto parts.
