Question about 1992 Buick Roadmaster

1 Answer

Cassette player's speed is uneven

The factory cassette player in my 1992 Buick plays cassettes, but the speed is uneven and there is a great deal of flutter in the sound. I refuse to install something aftermarket as that simply ruins the look of the dash, so what can I do to rectify the problem?

Ok, the reason for your problem is that the belt is either worn or it is loose, you will have too remove the player and look for the belt and replace it or tighten it if possible.......hope this helps.

Stereo....

There is no easy inexpensive way to hard wire an MP3 player into a factory stereo from 1994.

But there are 3 possible solutions and the first 2 should be less than $50.00

1. Use an FM transmitter that plugs into the headphone jack on the MP3 player, you tune the existing radio to the transmitter frequency.
2. If it is a cassette deck there are cassette adapters also, uses direct contact with the heads on the cassette deck to play the MP3 -- getting hard to find these.
3. Have a shop put an FM Modulator in the antenna line that has a plug that will fit the headphone jack of the MP3 player. Most expensive of the 3 solutions but will have the best sound of the 3.

Have a cassette stuck in my 98 Buick Century Custom

sometime you can get luck by taking out the tape player and there will be a small hole somewhere on the player that you can stick a paper clip through to release the tape player. Otherwise gnetly stick a screwdriver under the tape to see if you can get it to release. no guarntees on that last one

sounds like the cassette adapter has a bad channel, or didn't fully seat into place. Try removing and re inserting, to play the other side of the adapter if the wires will allow it. Then auto reverse the cassette deck to allow a different portion of the cassette head to be used for the signal. Those cassette adapters are poor quality, and put alot of time on the mech.
